there's no fast bike.

it's all depend on the rider.

just need a strong right HAND!:thumb:

In moto racing, you only got one chance.

One mistake and you'll be out.

Sweat more in practices, lesser blood in race.

The fastest a stock can go?

Am sure in your first post... your intent is to find the fastest PG lap time that can be done by a stock DRZ.

Daigo34 tells you that it is 2min 06sec... and you ask if that is the fastest a stock can go???? So... then what is the intent of your question? Hard to understand.

Am sure that the lap time of 2min 06sec is not the slowest timing for a stock DRZ or any bike for that matter at PG.

Paiseh leh.. Haha

How you think I started? Certainly by not being paiseh.. in fact had to ask alot and practise alot.

Nothing to be paiseh about. To me there is no such thing as a dumb question... only dumb answers.

I like and I support any DRZ rider who is willing to race in the SMSA sanctioned races.

My team mate who raced last year with me in the BRS series.. rides a stock engine DRZ, with a stock block, stock carb and only an aftermarket exhaust... can do 1min 55 sec laps when I started guiding him on the track. The bike is that fast simply because it was tuned by Boy Johari of Abboy Motor Racing... also the same person who takes care of my DRZ and Y125Z. Trust me... if the mechanic is an ex- racer.. he definitely knows what he is doing.

If you are a fast rider.. then the machine must be tuned by a competent mechanic to go fast too... or else its a waste of your effort.

If you so paiseh.. then PM me your questions. I will help you the best I can.

For your safety sake, can I give your bike a look over first in Singapore...before I consider guiding and pacing you at PG?

I seldom guide people on track now coz of many instances whereby the guy follows and then overshoots corners or crashes... and in the end its because the bike is not set up properly or the tyres have issues. I sincerely don't want you to be the next victim.

Some don't even bleed their brakes before a track session... brake fluids all brown with water absorption and then the brakes fade under hard braking to brake fluid boiling. Some using half worn brake pads which transmit alot of heat to the brake caliper resulting in brake fade. Brake failure at high speeds in PG means tyre walls meeting in session.

A bike and the rider... needs to have some form of track preparation done first for safety sake before hitting the tracks.

  • 2 weeks later...
I shld hit PG wit my DRZ as well !!!

You should.

I always hear from alot of DRZ riders claiming that the bike will be overstressed due to the high speeds down the back straight and the engine will suffer.

There are a few of us who are racing DRZs tuned and set up by Abboy Motor Racing against the sportsbikes at Pasir Gudang for the past 2 years..and the bikes are still running fine. Mine is a weekday work bike and weekend race bike.

To me... its not that the DRZ cannot handle the high speeds at Pasir Gudang.. its the rider himself...but he dare not admit that fact he is scared of riding the DRZ at high speeds in the corners so it is easier to blame the bike.

Riding PG track is at constant rolling high speeds and 90% of the time in 5th gear... and that has less stress on the mechanical parts of the engine than the short go kart tracks where there is a lot of strain to the engine due to constant full throttle short bursts from corner to corner. Also at PG... due to the constant high speeds..the cooling of the bike is highly efficient unlike the short tracks where there is a tendency to run hotter. Hot oil does not lubricate well = wear and tear of moving parts.

When you use bigger rear sprockets to get better acceleration on go kart tracks... the greater is the mechanical loading stress on the drive train.

In short... it is easier to destroy a DRZ engine on a short go kart track than on a longer track like PG.
