Pros: Damn bright, can light up the a large area.

Cons: Not legal, can be glaring and irritating to other road users.

If u like go touring up NSH at night, i guess the price is justifiable.

Increase visibility = increased safety

And u cant really put a price to safety can u? :p

It's very affordable now.

Except for H4, most shops are retailing 120-$150 for each bulb.

In fact, you can get a pair of H1 HID conversion set for $150. So that's $75 per bulb.

There is absolutely no need for HID in Singapore but it is very useful in Malaysia. You get the most light from a 5000k bulb so it is not so wise to get those HID light with a bluish tint as those are above 10000k. Some think it looks cool but it's useless once you hit a fog which occurs very frequently in the night on the highlands such as in Cameron Highlands.

If you are planning to plug and play with the stock cable, you may need to upgrade your fuse. Most bikes with 55w light are using 10A fuse for the light. Although most HIDs are running at 35w, the initial surge during starting may blow the fuse.

If you are planning the HID as an axillary light, you can explore those high powered LED lamp which runs at even lower wattage, and they are more compact as no ballast is required so installation is even easier.

Most important, be a responsible user.
