Meet Cyril the CCM ....a real Jeckyl & Hyde if ever there was one!

 

He's basically a Yellow 1998 604 Sport with a 640 Big bore Rotax motor (actually a 636cc motor, as on the V5, which is here in my name ....)

 

Why all the choices then, I hear you ask......

 

"So why all the choices then?"

 

Well, Cyril is a complete 640 CCM with all the usual finery like Paioli forks and WP back end.......

 

but just like Mr Potato Head, you can take things off and stick things on as you wish ....like ....

 

Yellow YZ450 front mudguard for Dirt or ....... Black Supermoto front guard for road

 

Vapor digital speedo / rev counter / trip meter or ....... standard speedo & milometer

 

Standard CCM morad wheels or .... Talon hubs and Exel rims (both of these are in the same dirt sizes NOT 17" supermoto sizes!!!!!!)

 

Standard CCM (by Remus) legal can which ranges from putt putt putt to bbbbbrrrrrrrmmmmmm or....

 

easy to fit Straight through can with internal dB killer which ranges from PUTT PUTT PUTT to BBBBBRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMM or .......

 

take out the dB killer and fit the straight through can on it's own, then you have instant OOOOOHM, OOOOOOHM, OOOOOOHM ....OOOOOHMYGAWDTURNITOFF!!!!!!!! :-)

 

Avon Distanzia road biased tyres (on Talon/Exels) or ..... Pirelli MT21 road legal trail tyres on morad rims

 

LED rear lamp unit with small (6" x 4") number plate or ..... genuine CCM rear end & lamp with bigger number plate (still off road friendly though..not full legal sizes)

 

So why am I selling Cyril then?

 

Well, I read Rolling Thunder and fell in love with the whole CCM story and had to have one, even though I was into Enduro's in sticky forests and even though I was also into long road rides .....

 

For Enduros, Cyril is admittedly a little bit on the big side...... if you are Shallow Hal, then you can maybe convince yourself this is acceptable ...for normal Mortals, it would be far less problematic to kickstart the forest and ride that around Cyril ....

 

For road riding...well...... Cyril is a trail bike .... if you want 600odd cc's of smooth power you can ride on a motorway, then off you pop, as you need to buy a £4k + learner ER6 Kawasaki .....

 

However, if you want to really upset your mates, then buy Cyril, stick the Distanzias on, and LOL, ROFL, Guffaw and Farqhuar Farqhuar all the way to the end of the twisty bits ...

 

If they are going on the motorway, you better take the wife / husband / lesbian / gay partner (delete as appropriate for PC ness) to B&Q to look at wallpaper (other DIY outlets are widely available)

 

seriously, I mean this, although I have honestly seen 105 mph {private runway, obviously} on the digi speedo, sticking wasps up your backside is probably less painful....

 

for that point in time and the following 6 days or so :-)

 

As part of my midlife crisis, I have a Maico to get dirty on, so the only bit missing from my midlife crisis is the Suzuki Bandit 1200 I grew up with ...on which I can be all of the other above elements anyway ..... (except the forest bit obviousy, although I have been into a forest on a Bandit 1200, just always wished I'd braked that little bit sooner ....)

 

The good bits are:-

 

all listed above...what an absolute lark, and he also has a rear rack which you can take Tuna sandwiches on.

 

Also good is that both the Distanzia and MT21 Tyres are almost brand new (like one ride old each set!) and both sets of wheels have discs on, the rear has a sprocket on it and both sets have a magnet trigger for the speedo

 

(you will also need a longer chain with the MT21's so the rear clears the swing arm ..... a one ride only one of these is included)

 

Not that you will ever need these, but there are also 5 spare spark plugs (4 of which are in posh BMW packaging ....ooooohhhhhhhhh!) and a new NGK plug cap is on there..

 

The bad bits are:-

 

I am 6'3", built like a brick "out"house and Cyrils seat can sometimes be a bit too high even for me if I am feeling lazy/tired/standing in a hole

The side stand is a bit short ...like paying bankers bonuses after last year is a bit short of common sense kinda short ....

 

The worst bit:_

 

What I know about 604 Rotax starter sprag clutches you could write a google search on ...

 

ahhh there is one .....

 

well, when you first start him up and the (recently changed,along with filter!) oil is cool, all is sweet and quiet ....as his poor little heart warms up and his juices start to flow though you get the tell tale signs of a worn sprag clutch, which does, however you look at it, make quite a din .... at which point you have three choices:-

 

a) take the dB killer out the loud can, fit it and say "what noise"

 

b) tell your mates you fitted a Ducati dry race clutch and that's why they couldn't catch you, and if the noise is good enough on a £12k Italian, it's sure as hell is good enough on a £1k Austrian!

 

c) Fit a new sprag clutch

 

d) remove the sprag clutch and use Cyril kickstart only (please ask your partner to assess your general physical condition if this is your plan!)

 

On a more serious note, I would keep him and just buy my Bandit 12 if finances/garagespace/financialdirector/wife would allow, but I just can't so he has to go, hopefully to a good home.

 

He is a good honest British (and Austrian) trail bike, has been used off road, and whilst fairly clean, is a used motorcyle from a previous decade...so please be aware he is not new!!!

 

I don't have a buy it now, but as I could break him for more than the start price, he runs to the end and I won't take peanuts.

 

PX's are not allowed to be even suggested by Ebay rules.

 

Cash on collection would be really, really nice, Although I will take Paypal if absolutely necessary (this is not to be taken in the same context as a banker taking his bonus "if absolutely necessary")

 

I do have Cyril for sale elsewhere, so if he goes, he goes, and I will have to reserve the right to remove from auction

 

Cyril is by nature, a used trail bike from a previous decade, and as such, for me to offer any return or warranty would make as much sense as claiming expenses on renting a home I already own, cleaning my moat etc etc etc (what do you mean, there's a legal loophole and I can?!!!)

 

Nope.... warranty and returns is not implied or given, but at this price, what do you expect ....?
