guys(Kenny in particular), anyone change their timing chain before?

when i cold start every morn. got very obvious ticking sound like timebomb like dat..

anyone knows how much?

my mileage is 70K plus close to 80...

 

 

dude...maybe you can try just by replacing the chain tensioner...that one is cheaper try and able to DIY...not sure about varas...but TDM cost $63....i have that noise when i got the bike...it pass 2yrs and the sound is gone...but i think after 50k++ km now i think mine is about to come again.

Backfire before during morning start....eventually find out that the air/fuel mixture too rich, with the help of the dyno chart shown. If happen frequent, maybe try to re-jet the carb & synchronize it. Any sign of high fuel consumption...

 

Bro, was sending my gf to work yesterday. Everything was ok until she complain her feet is wet. When i turn and see, her feet was covered with engine oil. Immediatley i bring my bike to work shop after i drop her off. My heart sank when my mechanic told me my piston broke and need to overhaul which coz 1-2k . But after some checkings he showed me where the engine oil spill from and jokingly pat my shoulder and say no need overhaul lah. Its the rubber sealing at the top block gave way resulting the engine oil to guzz out. In e end spend 300 to change both rubber sealings and servcing. what a relief no need to do major operation

Our chain tensioner may not be as easy to reach as tdms. tensioner and timing chain are usually an item/ a pair, just like bike chains and sprockets. one worn piece can easily deteriorate the other, so changing one might not be that long term a solution.

 

for tdms, i think the OEM tensioner was quite screwed? (like our fuel pump) after a while, already loose, so for them, it's more worth it to change the tensioner alone. check with your mech better.

hi chris! yup..i have this ticking sound too..but I did not change it. have left it there..it's ok when ur travelling? thinking abt it, wondering if the timing chain causing the coughing bike syndrome.

 

Im doing a top overhaul now so rosli is checking the parts for me. I just back from the shop..should have asked him then. maybe can get an answer by next week?

We would be prepared to offer a 20% reduction for an order of 5 screens or more.

Or 10% for an order of 3 screens.

Of course Postage is charged by Australia Post on a weight basis and as long as you are prepared to take these screens in one package, we could minimise postage costs.

 

I will be visiting Bike Asia in April. What is the feeling up there as to how it will go?
