i think my ST11 had dat kind of problem. its da coil. but st11 coil is damn ex! bout 300 plus. but if refurbish only bout 100 plus.

 

Same thing happened to me in January 2008. End up itz the coil.

cost ard $280 for me..

 

your problem seems like what Vara,me & myself face. Change new battery & rectifier, the problem still come back again. Maybe it could be the startor coil going to give way.

Maybe u can refer to your service manual, how to check for the failure of startor coil. what is ur mileage... some pple change after abt 60,00km ride other 100,000km ride..

 

Thanks for input. I suspect the coil also. Tried troubleshooting using the 02 service manual but some of the electronics are different. At most sent to bikeshop for troubleshooting.

Haha...When i got is bike, the speedo meter usually have this problem. Just change to led light & solve your problem..I got it done by one of the sg bike forum., after seeing it maybe u can also DIY yourself. Just make sure have the correct type of LED with correct resistor for that. Maybe u shld check again ur LED light that u r using...if i'm not wrong, i think your led light is the focus type that does not project light widely.

I think the LED i bought is really brite. Its from the one the bros in this forum. Its the one that has 6 LEDs on 1 stick suppose to cover 270 degress around. Still no better than a normal bulb.

 

I have a volt meter and its charging alright as per what bro yancurly8 said. Rectifier and coil changed barely a year ago.

 

Haizz donno what else to do. Now thinking want to DIY put LEDs all over under the Speedometer. Checked out Sim Lim Tower got a particular one that is flat. Maybe will try see can or not.

AWESOME food!!! The proof?? There were no leftovers. But our table nvr get the 4 of a kind veg leh. Only 1 kind kangkong. Hehehe... But that is already SEDAP = delicious enuf.

 

Let me know if u guys gonna attack that plc again. I will nvr have any qualms of returning there. Was already suspecting something wrong with it for the pass 2 weeks. Cox the volt meter voltage is lower den usual. went to bike shop and the mec tell me my bike no problem and tell me dun believe my volt meter. Not accurate one. Although relieve but i still play safe and off my headlights when i'm reaching home everyday.

 

DEN TODAY!! Dunno should i consider myself heng or suay. after sending my gf to work, i drop by my mec and ask him to check for me again. He dilly dally awhile and go get the volt meter wanna start my bike and check my voltage.... DEn... CRANK CRAnk crank.... bike cannot start!! A quick check at the battery with the volt meter, its showing 11v. **** i say to myself... ITCHI BACKSIDE create problem for myself. Gonna burn another hole in my pocket... 2nd time this month... Den i Kpkb with the boss say his shop got black magic, Bike okok come liao cannot start... den he joking reply: If not how can i make $$.

 

After some playing around with the electricals, my mec told me that the coil is the culprit. He took out the coil and indeed there was a very strong CHAO TA smell. I was qouted $300 for the repair.

Hey Bro,

Maybe you might want to check the connector inside near the starter relay at the battery compartment. The last time i had the same problem. Battery doesn't last more than a year even after change coil and rectifier.

Sent it to K&T he checked the connector a bit chao ta. He say if want to repair is must change the whole wiring harness cos the connector is a special one and only comes in a set.

But luckily he found one on an old set of unused harness. He changed and resoldered it back and so far battery and charging still going strong even after a year already.

I got the virus too u remember? just 3rd may 2007 @milege 111009, coil damage = $250+$50(Labour).

Hi Vara Bros,

 

I remembered one of the guys changed the coil recently. May I know what caused it and the symptoms of the problems. My bike currently is having some charging problems. Battery will not charge if it was riding below 3k rpm. When i'm stuck in bad traffic and in slow speed, it will have some problem starting later. I've just changed a new rectifier and battery last month.
