Dear Brudders,

Jst wana check if anyone ever experience this before. Earlier today, I went down to HKL to change my chain-spockets & front brake pads. All was fixed nicely and I slowly head home; heading caution to the fresh front brake pads not to brake too hard..

While riding home, this thing happen. I used both front & rear brakes. Suddenly I felt my rear brake not functioning properly when i had to stop at junction at Jurong Town Hall exit. Front brake was okay until few a few metres reaching my carpark. The moment i stopped fully, my rear brake simply locked. Noticed burnt smell from the rear brake pads.... paint-work on tyre-rims actually peeled off.. realise at this point its due to the extreme heat generated due to rear brake fault. Yikes one!

Story short, called HKL & described everythin to detail. Mech actually came down to my place to see and ease the fault. but no full remedy cuz need to ride bike down to shop on Monday. Problem is that mech told me not to use my rear brake while riding there for fear of same problem happening again. So come Monday, I will need to ride very, very carefuly to HKL without using my rear brakes at all.. Yikes two!!!

btw, when mech came down and finally manage to release rear brake lock, saw the rear brake pads was partially crumbling oredi. And I just change the rear brakes a few days before the Rompin trip.. Yikes three!!!

I totally agree with Ian, i suggest you tow the bike and not take the chance riding it down bro. I have seen brakes pads catching fire. You will probably need to service your pistons and bleed your brakes bro. Over time, gunk and dust can kill your callipers. A service once in a while keeps your braking sweet. FOR NOW, I SUGGEST TOW YOUR BIKE THERE FIRST. NOT WORTH TAKING THE RISK.

There is no pain greater than not being able to ride a motorcycle....

There is no joy more worth mention when riding one,,,,,,,

As our bikes get older, more and more wear and tear is going to occur, so it will help if we just sit down, take a good look at the bike and see its operations and act before anything goes wrong. Thats where we learn to be better bikers.

Ian, that was my sentiments also after send out my earlier post. Oredi made a request to tow it to HKL monday morning. Thanks..

btw Lesson learnt- after repair or replacement done, do a quick check or short ride...dun jus leave e shop and head for home ASAP....

Eddie, I had checked & did a short ride before setting off home. Somehow the fault arises when i hit AYE to home. Will update you buckaroos after bike sent to HKL come this monday morning...

A very sound and aptly-positive attitude... yet some of us also agree of this unavoidable coincidence: 'Murphy's Law ; Anythin can happen... or in some cases.. **** happens..'.. :slapforehead:....

True true, moto oredi COE bike or COE going to expire will never be the same again. I mean even in most countries, where COE is non existent, 10 years is a long time and with our climate, many things just go haywire.

I am lucky that in my time with the VARA, over three years now, nothing major has or had occured less for a busted ignition which i think was due for a timely change cos the ignition is the mutha to everything in the bike. I am glad that the old one lasted a good ten years.

However, looking on the bright side, its lucky that all these problems are occuring at home, cos on unfamiliar soil, It will be a lot tougher to fix all these probs.

For myself, i have decided against all odds to send the bike in to HKL and get that ticking fixed. Its bugging me a lil too much. Paranoia is a pain that i dun wanna entertain esp after paying that much for the repairs.

If all the Varas here had that sound, then i might let it rest but if its only mine, then i should get it fixed. No doubt i am confident that the bike will go to Hatyai and come back smiling, but knowing MR BENNY HILL, he will kick up heaven and earth if i reported the issue after 1800 kms on the clock at pretty high speed. We all know that.

So i get it fixed now better, Hope the bike will be ready by tuesday and i will do a dry run to machap or something at 140-170kmph to test the bike just to make sure alls in order.

and must check my pet **** also....hahhahhahahha
