bochap abt metzeler tires on da international vardero website bad comments:

My Varadero is on the road again, with the third front tyre, now a T66 from Michelin and it seems if al problems are solved now.

As you know, my Varadero was fitted with a Metzeler Enduro 4, with an "A" marquee added to the type specification. As it seems, it was specifically this tyre which was made for the Honda Varadero. But, after several kilometres on this tyre, a strong shiffering effect occurred in the steering bar. After complaining about it at my Honda dealer's shop, the Enduro 4 was replaced by a Metzeler Tourance; a tyre with which I have excellent experiences under my previous Honda Africa Twin.

But after only riding it for just a short distance, the Tourance made the shiffering even worse as the Metzeler enduro 4!

At the end I returned the bike back to the dealer's shop. After balancing both front and rear tyre, it showed no strange things to the rim, but the tyre showed a slight vibration. The Metzeler is replaced for a Michelin T66 and all problems seem to be solved.

But how is it possible, that the Dutch Honda Importer delivers the bike with Metzeler Tourance; tyres which seemingly are no good for the Varadero? After making some inquiries, I noticed, that the Dutch Honda Importer is well aware of this issue, but the dealer organisation has to take all responsibilities.

Why this attitude from an official importer? At the end, I came up with new - good - tyres but only after complaining and negotiating over, and over again, and it delivered my dealer a lot of extra work which could have been avoided. At my own expense I had to pay for the (little-) price- difference between Metzeler and Michelin, the dealer took al cost for replacing the tyres.

I strongly regret the attitude of the Importer and I wonder, if there are more people with the same complains. Reading this page, it must be...

Hi guys, how many kilometers is it from here to malacca? been there few times but embarassingly i can't remember. I am really tempted to go in view i may be recalled but think i may need to buy a fuel pump to standby. my mileage is 18K or should i just save the $$$$ until it conks out then i buy.?

Help.

andy - welcome to the group! hope to see you later in the week ya.

Would be great if you can join us this Sat, you shouldn't worry about the fuel-pump yet as your mileage is so low. It should be ok to 30k+ at least, most ppl gets problems ard 40k I think (I changed mine at 45k). Varas, maybe you can confirm - u the fuel pump expert :faint:

Anyways, once the fuelpump goes it does not mean you can't ride at all. The power will like drain and engine will shut down. But if you wait for a while, and "knock on it a bit" (was that how you put it Kenny?) you can start it again and ride on. I lived with my problem for a few weeks before I realized what was the problem.

So, in short, no need to spend the money untill you have the problem!

Hope this helps...

Baga>> T66 is crap IMHO , try its newest range from the tire man... think its anaekee or something like that... not really good at spelling :cheeky: next on the list shd be Tourance, if we look away from the tank slapping feeling when decelerating from 70-60km/h, this pair of rubbers would be the true choice of weapon for me :thumb: I am on my 2nd set after a wonderful 30000+ kms with the 1st... T66 can even last beyond the 3 mark...

Andy>> the fuel pump would show its true colors when u are in the 30K+ range... usually ... becos me and another 2 buddies had the exact problem when our bikes( its a 2002 model V2) reach the magical 30K+ kms....

Fyi , its the same pump as AT and made by mitsubishi... anyway I had mine changed to another after market pump , also mitsubishi...kekkee but its comfirm a different piece... as some work need to be done on the wiring to be able to fix it up... its costs me ab $60 to change it.

But if u wanna get 1 for rainy days, i think Lucifer is selling his spare..

To add on to Baga's symtoms .. when u try to rev up the bike, its dies and when u gas the bike... the rev just would not go up... like no fuel into the bike... when all that happens... time to change fuel pump.

Kenny>> I am sure elws would kekekek but anyway they are from the same company ... but fact is most of dero owners would stick to mtez's tourance and anakee from mich... these 2 is on the top of the food chain... I haven't tried anakee, but one of my fren tried it and he was full of praises for it... but the price tag abit of a turn off.... :sian:
