Dear brudders,

Recenly, my ventura light protector got stolen... before this, brother Vincent's light protector got stolen too.. Sometime back, met a varadero rider(not in our forum) and he also mentioned that his got stolen also.

I do not know if this is an act of mischief or theft but caution to all VARA brudders..

Sigh.... This must be the job of some thieves. There's always risk putting on such headlight protector as they can be easily removed. For a little prevention I suppose we juz need to cover up our bike more often.

Damm those thieves! I pity you man. Wonder if they got Mash Grille for Vara like the one they have for AT and V Strom.

Anyway I was just wondering. You know there's this RaceShield thingy in the forum. Heard its scratch resistance and material is good. If the Ventura Light Protector Keep losing, and no Mash Grille for Vara, probably could consider putting that on the headlight.

Just my thinking.:angel::angel:

anyway guys just a word of advise

for those with earlier model hydraulic cluth hoses

u mite want to consider changing ure cluth hose to steel braided

ones... Mine cracked at the traffic light yesterday dripping fluid all over the rear part of the front fender, radiator and fork..... I pulled in the clutch to put into gear 1 and my biting point got closer and closer until engine stalled... No feeling at all in the lever.....According to the mech the hoses were hardened from wear n tear and just split when couldnt take the pressure.... Original hose two hundred plus.. Hel 120/-.......

Damn lucky never happen in Thailand:angel:

PS more things to add to ure list the next time u go Thailand

clutch hose

DOT 4 fluid

DOT 4 bleeder

You can try to engrave your bike number on it at your next headlight protector so that it will at least help to identify whether it is a stolen stuff or deter them from stealing it....i have already done so.....those who want to sell online to vara brudder better be careful.....

Is it true that a warp front rotor disc can cause the handel bar to vibrate terribly...??

YES cos I checked up "disc brake" on wikipedia just now...

I am feeling quite broke now, just checked my front brakes properly and there are 2 problems with it: (1) the disc rotor uneven wear until 1 side totally cannot skim due to thinness (2) some of the pistons are rusted and worn out with rubber seals leaking.

Damage: Estimated $850 or more, with $640 for 2 new front discs alone... tried using Super 4 ones but cannot fit... :faint:

But then again, tyres and brakes cannot compromise one...

Do it once and do it right

Yes dok, there's a high possibility it will cause vibration. To conform, best to get the mechanic to check the condition of ur front discs.

Bro Faz,

I emphatise wat u feeling now.. sometime ago, spent lotsa $$ on my bike and felt the pinch..

The only thought that made me better back then was that if i spend one day making my ride safer, I wil be safe to ride another day!!..

The price of safety and life shouldnt be taken too lightly.. now that you have good front brakes, riding is no longer something you constantly worry about when on ur fatgerl. Touch wood if one fine day ur front brakes determines a split second moment that might save ur life.. Ride safe and catch up with u soon...

Cheers!!

just a tot. been thinking how to prevent bike theft. how abt mainstand our bike n put heavy lock on the main stand to prevent main stand moving. 1. with main stand extended, it will be difficult to row or push the bike when attempt to steal. 2. it is better than putting a lock to wheel as sometimes we forget to unlock. with main stand lock, we will always remember to unlock n put up the stand before ride off.

wat do u thk

might want to tighten the steering cone nut and test wheather it vibrate, just an option before you spend the money first.

That's a very good idea, I think I will look at how best to do that. P- still want to make up a tool tube for your AT, I have some materials, let me know next time you can come down and I can measure up.

Warped disc will not cause vibration unless the pads are being pushed against the disc. If your pistons are rsuty they will not retract back into the caliper after applying the brakes which will cause abnormal pad and disc wear, maybe even cause the warping due to continous heat, and will cause high FC also. Sounds like you need to overhaul the calipers Bro.

Never heard of Vara rotors being any more susceptible to warping than any other bike.

Vara is gone but back strain lingers on o_O
