hi dukers, hope you are all enjoying the ride.... got two questions which need some clarifications

1) noticed the bike coolant level is low.... thought of buying coolant off the shelf. are those ok? anything special thing to take note of?

2) the service indicator indicated 410km to next servicing... but Mr Ong said to service at 1K mark.... so listen to who? *think will call DW tomorrow to clarify*

Thanks.

Below min or just above min mark?

If it's above, it's fine. Personally I prefer not to mix coolant.

Regarding service tinker, call DW.

Key code, manual etc are give in a doc bag. Did you collect yours?

one more thing... the manual stated not to hit above 7.5k rpm... so I've set my RPM limiter to 7.5K. hope I am not too kiasu.

Me already passed that rpm mark on day 1...hahaa

At that time i was at B.Batok with bike canvas on. Canvas torn, luckily the scratch not that obvious from far but still heart pain. About 10cm long. 2 lines.

Anyway, about running in have u guys read this web before? http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Check out plastic polish compound at autobacs.

For hard run in, it's 2 school of thoughts. Ask bak if you are keen on this.

how you do that ah?

As usual lah...too excited huh...RTFM! Hahaaa...

Page 39 in the user manual. I reckon set the first rpm warning will do. Default is 10k and 11k for first and second rpm limiter.

Rpm limit warning will start flashing when you reach the rpm. Then again you should be looking at the road, not the panel. :)

1. i suggest we drain out all and infuse it with Engine Ice...http://www.engineice.com/ think DW have

2. manual also states 1st servicing after 1k mark...but since ur is "racing" spec pls allow for earlier servicing ahaha (pun intended)

yeah pls do hard run in...if you're into mechanics and material engineering and stuff you will understand better

did this on my previous KTM200 and previous 2 cars...and will do it for all my future internal combustion engines from now

butt feel is that the engine feels "tighter" and acceleration is more responsive, though there may be more factors affecting engine performance

but u do get less engine blowby, which means your pistons are sealed up to the cylinder wall nice and tight,

you can observe this over time from your airbox and exhaust...

bikes long time back can't do hard run in cos the quality materials were poorer...

Factories today also "run-in" the bikes before delivery...on a dyno ie: controlled environment

the keep it to low rpm/speed is just BS to me...

ever wonder why all manufacturers recommend a slow speed of up to 80km/h? They want you to keep safe and get used to the machine before you go all the way!

not good if new owners start having accidents too soon ya?

i used to do it 2-4am in the morning at the old SLE when it just opened ie:uncontrolled environment with lots of risks!

now you can do it safely on a dyno in SG!

impt thing is to warm up properly before doing any funny stuff k?

minimum 4 to 10 bars on the temp gauge...

fyi:: the temp gauge should refer to the engine oil temp if i read the parts manual correctly..

there is actually an oil pressure gauge and another temp gauge perpendicular to it at the cylinder head

confirmed kiasu....

KTM recommends 10000rpm 1st limit and 11000rpm as 2nd limit... upon delivery

confirm kiasu

hahaha.... actually the default rpm1 figure is 10k. but for running in for first 1K, ktm recommends not exceeding 7.5K rpm. a tall order if you ask me since this bike only got acceleration at high rev.

u can call me mr kiasu. :D
