yeah pls do hard run in...if you're into mechanics and material engineering and stuff you will understand better

did this on my previous KTM200 and previous 2 cars...and will do it for all my future internal combustion engines from now

butt feel is that the engine feels "tighter" and acceleration is more responsive, though there may be more factors affecting engine performance

but u do get less engine blowby, which means your pistons are sealed up to the cylinder wall nice and tight,

you can observe this over time from your airbox and exhaust...

bikes long time back can't do hard run in cos the quality materials were poorer...

Factories today also "run-in" the bikes before delivery...on a dyno ie: controlled environment

the keep it to low rpm/speed is just BS to me...

ever wonder why all manufacturers recommend a slow speed of up to 80km/h? They want you to keep safe and get used to the machine before you go all the way!

not good if new owners start having accidents too soon ya?

i used to do it 2-4am in the morning at the old SLE when it just opened ie:uncontrolled environment with lots of risks!

now you can do it safely on a dyno in SG!

http://www.racewerks.com.sg/Services_break.htm

impt thing is to warm up properly before doing any funny stuff k?

minimum 4 to 10 bars on the temp gauge...

fyi:: the temp gauge should refer to the engine oil temp if i read the parts manual correctly..

there is actually an oil pressure gauge and another temp gauge perpendicular to it at the cylinder head

wow bro bak.... very informative. and makes alot of sense.

Fully Agreed.

Just to share my experience.

My last taiwanese scooter. During bike collection, I intend to run in hard. but kanna heavy traffic jam plus heavy rain. So kinda kanna stuck in the jam for 1 hour. That bike just need oil top up every now and then.

Overhaul 1 year later due to con rod bearing. new block, piston and rings. Same story. Kiasi. run 60km/h during rush hour. Same story. Still eat oil. Last overhual, collect bike on sat 3pm. Just wack at every oportunity. High rev, heavy brakes.

Interesting enough, never eat oil anymore.

Current ride. 200CC 4T scramb. From day 1 high rev. I was totally new to the bike handling. So i did not go fast. but still manage to high rev.

What I did was pick up speed to 70km/h changing gears normally. Maintain speed. But down gears and up gears on every 10 counts (10 sec count) 70km/h at 3rd gear, 70km/h at 4th gear and 70KM/h at 5th gear. what u will achieve is variable rev every 10 sec. and I am very sure at 3rd gear 70+80km/h It will be high rev.

Just make sure road is not too busy and bike is warm up properly.

It was said that hard run in was best done with 60KM when the bike was new. After that. the cylinder horning pattern will be used up and the running in will be minimium. After that also try not to wack. Ur piston ring is seat in. but take note u also have to let other parts mate in properly. So try to ride normally Until first oil change at 1K. Take note. ride normally means like how u will ride ur bike in a normal days. 0-100km/h at ur usually normal pace. not kiasi riding and no sudden open of throttle like valentino rossi.

My personal plans for run in oil change is always the same. 100km change oil plus filter. 300 change oil. 600 change oil. 1K change Oil plus oil filter and u are done.

Some people will still ride normally until 3K before wacking the bike fully. But all this is personal perference

Yap! The real running in is during the engine breaking when you drop gear, not during the acceleration ya.

So if u do it on the road, 80km mileage is suffice, after that change engine oil, semi syn still.

And I wonder who benefit more from old school run ins hmmmmm

It's a mattar of preferences :p

Actually the old school still have it's merits. :p

1st peace of mind cos follows manufacturer's recommendation

2nd can overfill the oil level cos it will go down after some time :p

My current bike have to be very careful with oil level. too Much and it will stay there till next oil change. Unless U drain it out physically.

Eh, 7.5k rpm..... Tak cukup ahbang...

Kasih 10000rpm....

Piston need the high rpm bro!

Remember, semi syn till 5k mileage

Gearbox also need to mesh nicely
