1) the difference between maxsym and other scooters u have rode before (for those who have ridden other scooters before)?

Tough to answer holistically. Owned X9, ST200, X8, a little of SW400 (Rented), maintained (and rode :angel:) X1 and a Sparks for friends when they went for overseas postings. Was expecting the bike to feel like Taiwan made, but NO. Was nicely surprised instead. Furthermore, I was one of the few that bought it without opportunity to test ride at Mah, only able to start the engine and rev the hell out of it until Uncle Chew told me to "Relax! Relax!" So far bike is satisfying, good punch to pull off at the lights despite the weight and FC is very reasonable. Good low cruising RPM on the highway.

But then again objectively, I don't think any surviving Maxsym owner will tell you it's crap esp in this thread.

2) what is the 2 least satisfying feature of the bike since you bought it?

Signal indication in the dash too dim in the day.

I think a better quality tyre from factory will make me happier. Current tires compound is too hard for wet weather riding imo.

3) what do you think the resale value will be like for maxsym?

Not good. Agree with Chemol, Buy a scoot and rot with it, use it like how it should be employed. Go market buy veggies, buy kopi, buy 4D, go banks put cheque, go town watch movies, go to/fro work, go touring (short trips for me, don't stress the machine).

I think you are lucky as you have the opportunity to join in meetups to touch and feel the bike, from there you can make a well balanced decision.

But I would tell you, just buy one.

:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Yep i agree with you on the tyres, the maxxis tyres that they giv us i a piece of crap at wet weather...lol..

and mine craked at 13k km, so i change to a more reliable well known to all: DIablo Scoot Tyres :)

Resale value..hmmm...imo for a 400cc, this is the cheapest scoot and it a SYM :):) so u know i know hor..lol

Yes! JUST BUY ONE!!

why?

- Coz its cheapest 400cc scoot/bike

- Low maintenance (@ $60 u can full service the scoot)

- FC is good @ 25-26km/l

- Lots of storage (especially if u put 42l top box)

- Stable at corners (I personally tried cornering at 110km/h)

- Good top speed (160km/hr+++)

Appreciate the response from you guys...

I wasnt really hoping much for the scoots to hold a low depreciation, but was just seeing if any of you think that Taiwan scoots are gonna make a big wave in our local market, which will help owners to hold up the price a little.

As for the features, as i havent fixed a box for many years already, any storage is better than none! haha

2005-2006 : Yamaha RXZ 135

2006-2010 : Honda Super 4 Spec I

2010-2012 : Honda VFR 800 5th Gen

2012-current : SYM MaxSym 400i

It may make a big wave,it's a matter of time.

Regarding price,i believe many owners of this bike feels that the resale price is really secondary.

By fixing a box,you will have to remove the pillion seat rest.Unless you go to Seng Kwang to weld a bracket,which i feel the maker failed in this aspect.

I think maxsym riders might agree with me is that the only bad thing about this scoot is:

- The seat locking system, always very hard to lock, seems like the alignment is something wrong.

- The headlight: It will be good if they put in "Factory-installed-HID Kit"

- The windshield height..its alil bit low for me

@Leftlegged,

I do believe that maxsym is going to be a big hit, coz its selling like hotcakes in Europe, and the reason why they bring in to Asia is that, ppl from this part of the continent are demanding to make Maxsym available in Asia too..SIngapore & HKG are the first to receive the Maxsym in Asia; followed by Thailand and this July Indonesia, India, Middle East & Malaysia..

We are just waiting eagerly for the aftermarket parts to arrive in Sg such Exhaust pipes and accessories :thumb::thumb:

Yes i totally agree.

Just to share from me that needs SYM to improve for MaxSym 400i,

1)Once press the unlock button for the seat,it doesnt automatically raises up like Silverwing does.

2)The stock tyres needs to be replaced.

3)Windshield sucks too short for me,even now at the maximum height still insufficient.

There are fogs inside the areas specifically only for both my headlights,discovered that after heavy rain.Any riders experience the same issue as mine?

Rear headlight cover on the right have many hair line scratches internally,went to Mah to claim.Got to wait for approximately around two months for replacement.

i am eagerly looking forward for the aftermarket windshield.

Recently removed my rear topbox and rack. After a few trips riding without it handling is so much better. Bike is truly agile and nimble around bends.

I think I will stick to this setup and buy a rear seat hugger if I am carrying more items or on tours.

Just DIYed my 1000km service. not as easy as my phantom, but not that hard either. filled her up wif Motul 300V and redline gear oil. can't wait to go on a long and fast ride! rode around the neighborhood for awhile and its soooooo much smoother!

Does your topbox have quick release system? If so just remove it, go ride around and Kup few corners. Very different feel.
