Good and Bad job for all the people which you talk that day !!

NEVER use two Diffrent tire type.

Good luck for Drive with this combination.

Hmn... I'm not sure if it's a definite no no, but I wouldn't do it myself. Every tyre had it's own characteristics as there's no perfect tyre. So mentally I'll think, this tyres good for cornering, or maybe I can push it a bit more in the rain, or maybe it can take that patch of gravel. I would find it tricky to be riding with different tyres, though if the tyres have already been bought and fitted, then just live with it, and then standardise them when it comes to the time to replace them.

What a long day today for me.. 9am call Mah, ask me to tow and bring the bike over.. Call tow, the driver ask me wait for 2 hrs. Wait, wait and wait then he come take me and my bike to Mah.. Reached Mah almost 12 noon, they say workshop too many bikes under repair.. Ask me to put bike at workshop, I say I don't want, then they ask me to go to the workshop behind their shop. I think its call Pan Euro Bikes. Go there and talk to the manager, nice chap, but he dont have Maxxis.. No choice, so just change. Front tyre Maxxis and rear is Pirelli Diablo. He said can do but takes about 1.5 to 2 hrs, i think because lunch time.. I came back 3pm, take my bike and go home..

Damage = tow + tire = $40 + $175 = $215

I even take picture of the nail.. Blardy looong!! Even the manager and the mechanic say they never see such big and long nail puncture tyre before. I think they going to buy 4D. Hahaha!

Your damages seem to be on the high side. A backup kit which duriandan suggested is good.

A must have for a tyre repair kit and a portable air pump.

These two shake hands, hand in hand as we never know where our bike tyre will be puncture.

Maxxis tyres have bad reviews from many riders in this thread.

The owner of Mah is the uncle of that shop owner pan euro.

That's why Mah willing to recommend and support that shop and most of the time Mah's workshop is full.

I recommend to keep the patch kit in the box, less heat to cause premature aging.

I had bad experiences with the tyre repair kit, the "worms" if expired will be hardened.

Secondly for those tyres, like pirelli and metzeler with inner metal wires inside them call for better quality tools.

I second that, worse still both different manufacturer.

Highly not recommended, as both tyre compounds are different including threads.

The comfort, cruising and cornering for feelings and handlings would be different.

Class 2A and above tires very expensive. If you sway, kanna nails after change new tires at bikeshop. Normally I will do inner anti puncture application. Ban Hock Hin has it.

That's the best way to make full use of the tyre life span.

Location and price?

Many workshops doesnt want to provide that service, because the time taken and effort aint justifiable for the workmanship fees as claimed by the mechanics and etc.

Yeah, 3 weekdays since i got my bike is too short for me to explore other bike shops that sells maxxis. I wouldn't want to have different type of tyres for the front and rear either but at that moment it seems like "desperate times requires desperate measures". And even then, I was worried to ride/push it to the nearest bike shop.. When i ride/push the bike, the rear was jerking really bad everytime the nail hit the ground. I just didn't want to create further complications on the bike. Well, this is an early hard lesson for me. I'll definitely going to get that tyre repair kit. Thanks bro!

Just curious were you able to recall where you took that nail?

Bros, you very nearly heard of a downed Maxsym rider today. Was just on the second lane of TPE heading North when a black Mini Cooper beside me on the first decided to swerve into my lane.

Swerve. Not switch lanes without checking. Swerve as in like when those bad guys in movies want to murder someone. The car was 45-degree diagonal. If I had a cam a good prosecutor can pursue it for manslaughter.

I tried to get it to stop, but it just kept going, and tried to get away, but it was blocked.

I went beside to look into the driver side window, all the while wondering if it'll try to knock me down again, and saw this small friggin' female driver, pretending not to see me gesturing to her.

So I went in front and tried to stop the car, but it did a dangerous manoeuvre cutting across other vehicles and went so fast I couldn't see it.

And all the while I was too angry and adrenaline pumped to remember the licence plate.

I'm wondering is this female drunk, spastic, or trying to take some frustration out on someone and felt a bike was an easy target. Now I'll never now. But I just wanted to share my experience and let all the bros know that such things can happen, especially on Singapore roads where drivers are arrogant and dangerous, and the Law sees bikers' lives as less than worthless.

could just be a typical ignorant driver who is not cautious of their surroundings. everyone should give way to them. am glad that at least u are safe and escaped unscathed. the sad truth is that we usually have to do the looking out for them instead = defensive riding. its frustrating, but its the reality of riding in singapore. :)

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

Glad u made it bro!

Shitty drivers are everywhere. Even the best of all drivers have that poor moments once in a while. Look at what Hamiliton did in Sepang.....all it takes is once to for a fateful mistake......

That is the reason why I like riding, for my brain is always fresh and alert, cos my mind and eyes are always looking out for pea brains, potential road murderers. I always have this 15m bubble I always strive to keep away from other vehicles, even bikes. Never lane split unless traffic (cars) are stationary. It does get tiring, but everytime I pass or help out at a bike accident it re enforces my riding mantra.

For you ah Dan, don't ride your 160kmh so much, very unforgiving on SG n MY roads.

I don't which is scarier. That such drivers exist, or that such drivers are typical...

I'm a driver too. But I take extra care to leave space in between on the expressway for bikers, give extra following distance, give way and let them overtake because I know they can and should go through traffic faster, etc.

I think roads will be safer if all drivers had to learn riding first, and experience the viewpoint of a biker before they become murderous drivers on the road.

I totally agree with you. When riding in Singapore I'm always in Eye of the Tiger mode. I read a scientific study once that discovered old bikers had very little prevalence of Alzheimer's, and had the mental sharpness and alertness of non bikers decades younger. Similiar to how elderly who play mahjong had memories that rivalled younger people.

Sometimes when I reach the office building and see the dreary hordes emerging from the MRT tunnel, I know I can never do that. I enjoy riding so much that it's like I look forward to work so I can ride to the office, and then start to look forward to the ride home. In the hour and a half they've spent squeezing and shoving with foreign talent, I've spent an extra hour sleeping, and half an hour of joyful cornering, fast straights , and manoeuvring.

Funny how a murderous driver leads to thoughts of the joy of riding!

thats the bad part. we make up only a small group of ppl who ride and drive. the rest are not and will never understand the danger being exposed and on two wheels.

so lets just enjoy our rides and do our part as motorists. just keep calm and let go (or go the police with the evidence. thats why i got the gopro. haha!) :)

Exactly, my mental state remains very sharp from my bicycling and motor biking.

But when I drive, there's this false sense of security and comfort that sometimes I will just drone, stick to the speed limit, drive in my lane, dum dee dee dum......like my old man couch surfing tv....cruise along but brain empty....can get senile....

Then again as. Driver I have my fair amount of stories of dodging, e braking, e swerving, cursing and swearing at riders who think they are Rossi or Kevin Schwarz, for trying to kill me cos I was in their way of their reckless maneuvers. despite me who have used all my superior judgment and skill and prevented an accident or knocking them ( or should read them crashing into me), some of these jokers have the cheek to gesture at me for not giving way or giving them nough space to squeeze thru. Once at the lights a fazer dude knocked on my window to demand I retract my side mirrors so he can squeeze thru cos his 'gang' is way in front. I lowered my window, grabbed him by the collar pulled him towards my window and gave him a Sir Alex Ferguson hair dryer treatment.

By the way does your GF have any problem reaching the pillion foot pegs?

Just yesterday I saw this black Maxsym - both rider and lady pillion were sharing the front seat! Nice!

Wah, then again our rear seat so huge, can seat two more, so technically our can ferry 4 at one go, like thailand!

Do not discount eye sores vandalising new bikes. Looking at the length of the nail it takes alot of physics and coincidental science for the rubber to take in such a long nail. Then again now there's double blessing, both you and your babe walked away from it without a scratch.
