With great Power, comes great responsibility.

Hi all, is the Maxsym 400 passenger's backrest removable/detachable? Will it leave behind any holes?

It can be removed, like most did to allow the top box to be mounted on the same holes for the back rest. U can opt to blank the holes with appropriate screws and washers from any hardware shop.

The existing socket is 'almost' directly connected to the battery, which is 12~13v when engine is sleeping. But when engine is awake, the charging voltage can be (or should be) 14~15V, to create the at least 2v differentiate for the current to flow into the battery.

However, the voltage stabliser (sometime called regulator) came with the scooter/bike doesn't limit the voltage very accurately, typical should be around 14.5V but it can shoot up to 16~17v at time, and this is going to cook most cheap USB charger just nice, worst case if the USB charger don't have good regulating/protection circuit, the output voltage can be up to 6~7v or even higher, which will almost for sure burn the phone.

Most phones (iphone or android/GPS) battery only 3.7v and need 4.8 to 5.5v to charge, anything higher than that will potentially damage the phone with just one surge of voltage. SYM have quite good charging circuit but no one can be sure when the regulator/stabliser is dying, the reg/sta only cost less than $30 but your phone cost much more than that.

To protect your charging devices, it is recommended to have an external regulator to protect the phone/GPS, many car owners who suffered burn devices have adopted this approach, though someone may think this is kiasu but it is up to individual, a simple burn-break regulator (external) only cost around $30~40 (Taiwan or Local built) and around $10~15 (China made), so why save and regret later?

I guess i will send my maxsym for servicing to see wherther is there a leakage of my fuel...

Others got any encounter??

My first 270km seems to encounter the same as you. after top up 13.1L. Works out to be only 20.6km per litre.

Using Esso 5000 as well. And the fuel gauge already drops to empty(lower part of the red), I scare so immediately top up.. haha..

Did it help with the servicing?

With great Power, comes great responsibility.

I bought this voltage stabliser called "D1 Spec Voltage Stabliser"

Call me a beliver, coz after i installed this voltage stablizer, my voltage is 14.5v, and even in idling mode...

also you can hear the sound of the engine..no more rough grunt but instead a bassy vbooooommm...

I cant explain why but i guess the voltage stablizer supply constant current to the FI and other electrical components thus making it more stable.

This is what i encounter la after install it...its quite a huge equipment btw, bigger than Raizin VS

http://www.toyotafans.net/d1-spec-voltage-stabilizer-t199.htm

P/S the wrong misconception: Voltage Stabliser is not a fuel Saving device, it is just to regulate a constant supply of current to your bike's electrical component :D

For example:

Before Voltage Stabliser current supply will be like this-> 12v - 13v - 12.5v - 14v

With Voltage Stabliser current supple will be like this-> 13v - 13v - 13v - 13v
