Have you ensured that your fuel cap seals properly and does not allow heavy rain to infiltrate the fuel tank and contaminate your fuel? I hope your experience is not thru parking your bike under heavy rain for prolonged period.

Could it be condensation happening over night? Thats what happen to my bike. Caused some rusting inside tank.

Mechanic advised me to keep fuel up as much as possible. So that less air for condensation.

If there is alot of water, then maybe it is really rain.

Ho Ho..........never thot this problem also faced by other Steed owners too.

My ex FL 1569 Steed got tis water problem also.

I cannot tahan i sold off. when the mech drained the tank, water comes out first.

How to noe if its water?

When u drain from the fuel line, touch it with ur fingers. If it dries up fast, its cooling too, thats petrol.

If it stays on your finger, thats water.

Problem...problem. Mech also no idea.

Ihave the same conclusion as nights also. The fuel cap seal worn off.

When heavy rain or wen u wash bike, water sip thru it. Then it settle below the petrol in tank. when water goes thru ur carb, enjin will splutter n jerky. Becos the water n petrol aredy mixed when bike in motion.

Change ur petrol cap rubber seal first.

Leave the bike for 24hrs. let the water settles down below the petrol. next morning, drain out water.

Next go to mech. serviscarb.

If after this troubleshooting still same, must be something else.

oh bro, your bike is very cool! really heartache to have such problem, sorry i don't have such experience before... cannot advise much, think you should find a good mech to 'troubleshoot', can trust Planet Motor or K&T Clifford for such problem.

just curious:

what were the symptons that occur that led you to discover that water is in your fuel tank?

I mean.. usually your engine would have died if prolonged...

curious.. and concern. especially with the recent downpour

While I was riding, the engine was knocking and losing power. The engine was slowly coming to a standstill and eventually it did. Each time I fire up the bike, before I can even move, it dies off again and again. Call ROSLI THE BIKE medic, HE came and did a test on the spot, guess what?........water was dripping like NIAGARA FALLS........no choice, towed my babe back ( can finally call it a 'she' as its' bottoms was constantly wet...'dripping') he strip the bike, drain out the water, almost a cup full....carb was affected too.

So that's the story of my babe......endied well tho, cos, did do a full servicing and the bike is superb., smooth as silk........still worried la, what if we experience another downpour....

Still need to address the root of the propblemo, don't ya think?

Hope it helps not one but a few cruizers out there.

Cheers mate
