judge from you comment:-

1) Fuel supply should be a major consideration, if Cab OK, the check fuel line. If OK.

2) Check for leak in vacuum suction, if yours are Cab bike, fuel is suck in by piston movement, if pistion or engine block seal leak, then suction can be weak and resulting in no fuel supply hence engine die off.

Easy way to check:

1) check if the exhaust is strong...weak means weak combustion...

2) listen for hissling sound from engine block...sound be serious leak..

Caburator leak or water get in also an issue, since you checked your Cab, I presume no problem.

Clean you exhaust too, back pressure can give the same problem.

it's best u post ur Q in daystar thread @ cruiser section, so fellow owners can answer ur Q;

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/164077-daelim-daystar-corner/page101

wat is ur fc (fuel consumption)?

if it is too lean, ur engine gets very hot n overheated thus engine will die off.

another possible reason is water contaminated fuel, if u often pump petrol in JB then it is more likely the case.

thanks ooitn for your reply.i hv done everthing you said with mechanic the other day and found nothing odd there.for the exhaust, i don't really know how strong the flow out should be but i feel it's pretty strong to me.hissing sound from engine block, nothing there either.for the water part,i always put the lever reserve tank to burn the water off whenever i top fuel.that i learnt from previous bike phantom.what's next?sian!!!

stsoh thanks for your reply.sorry i post on the wrong section but i meant to be general on all bikes to see if anyone ever encounter on any other bike not just daelim.my FC used to be good before the problem arise becoz now i have to rev whenever i stop to keep the engine going or it will die.i don't think my bike overheat either.i never top up fuel at JB too lazy to ride there.

water is heavier than fuel so it's always stay at the bottom of the carb n will not be suck up coz when ever there is a gap fuel will slid thru n water will stay put due to it's weight. unlike efi (electronic fuel injection) where fuel is force thru the injector by pump.

how to get rid of water in carb?

place a container at the bottom where the drain tube from the carb (it's better to clean the tube first).

close (shut-off) the fuel cock n loosen the carb drain screw.

after drain fuel from the carb bowl, turn fuel cock to reserve (coz water will accumulate at the bottom portion in the tank).

drain about half a litre or so, u can pour back 98% of fuel back into the tank n throw away the 2% (water will settle at the bottom).

do it a couple of times, it should clear some water but still will have some water remain, unless u completely clear the fuel tank.
