TS, i think u mean u want to decrease FC instead of increase right.... hahaha..

A few general tips that might probably help with getting better FC:

1. Like what one of the forumers mentioned, wrist management.. Don't always open throttle so much, don't drag gears, just let ur rpm climb up smoothly and change gears before ur engine is screaming. In other words don't use aggressive riding style. In the long run it will not only save on ur FC, it will help save on alot of premature wear & tear as well.

2. Keep ur tyres properly inflated. Under-inflated tyres will cause ur bike to lose power which will lead to ur FC going up. Additionally it will also cause ur tyres to wear prematurely.

3. Check ur chain slack, if ur bike is chain-driven. Loose chain will cause both ur bike responsiveness and power to drop, leading to FC going up also. It will also cause jerky acceleration, and on some occasions the chain might come off the sprocket while riding, which is very dangerous.

4. Check that ur wheel bearings are fine. Spoiled bearings may cause the wheel to not spin smoothly, which can also cause FC to go up (more power needed to get the wheels to spin). I had this problem before, and i understand it may not be noticeable.

5. Avoid carrying too many unnecessary things in ur boxes, as the extra weight may cause ur FC to be bad.

6. Try to use expressway more than normal roads. Cruising will save more fuel than all the constant stopping & moving off. Just make sure u don't kena ERP and in the end u are paying more than u save.. :cheeky:

7. Using thinner engine oil will make ur FC better (e.g. grade 40 instead of 50), but this is highly subjective to ur personal preference, what kind of bike u are riding, how old ur bike is, etc.

8. Huge windshields, windshield that is installed improperly (wrong angle), huge side panniers are also possible causes of bad FC. However aerodynamics should only be significant if u are travelling at higher speeds.

If ur FC is really so bad until u cannot manage ($$$), then maybe changing to a more fuel economic bike would be a better solution...

Well written. Another cheap and definite way is to check and change your air filter if necessary. If you plan to ride the bike for 3 years at least, get a pre oiled k&n from ebay.

Aiya, only meter lights spoil, EO leaking a little bit, rusted tank, nothing i cannot live with. :cheeky: They are the kind of people who wash bike every week, really take care of bike one. Me? The kind of uncle that doesnt care about his damn bike as long as it moves. Truth be told, my YBR is one of the best looking ones on the road. The rest all owned by ah pek sell ice cream or pak cik dispatch rider. The bike all in horrible condition, but they all not complaining. :D

Anyway, i don't see a point in getting those bikes in my point of life right now. I don't need to go so fast anyway. Riding must relieks.

Hahaha ok lah uncle, wateva suits u lolz... Well washing bike weekly helps to check e condition of e bike... Dunno bout ur frens but for me, every sunday, i'll take 2-3 hrs to wash n polish n check e nuts, battery contact point etc... Daily, after every ride, will chck e tires condition, c got kena any nails etc n clean e rims n wipe e bike b4 i cover her up... N weekly will pump air...

Its diff pple diff priority.. To me its not bout being too engrossed (taksub) to e bike but i've to take care of her n her condition needs to b tip top for me to ride her, else its gonna b hazardous...

Yeah, its a matter of perception anyway. To you its checking the bike, to me, its being overly obsessive. I don't have 2 to 3 hours for me just to tend to my bike. But the bike so small and simple, while at carpark waiting to warm up, take about 30 seconds to check anyway...

Putting all the mambo jambo inside fuel tank or wherever... have you consider the cost of the mambo jambo? Does it cost more than your 'increased' FC compared to other similar bikes?

The solutions are shared by all the people below already:

1) Push the bike

2) Learn how to manage your throttling, not to overrev and not use higher gear when you need power, (you end up opening your throttle bigger but still no power).

3) Lose weight (yourself and your bike's unnecessary bling blings)

4) Experiment with different grade of petrol, there is always one which give you better FC than others.

5) Learn to read the traffic, so you don't have to open throttle, only to press brake seconds later. (to give way, turnings, congestion)

6) Tires pressure is extremely important to FC, as shared by brobros below as well.

Can give you suggestion until cows come home from grazing in the pasture, but it's all up to you.

Bottomline, there is no miracle or magic potion to pour or fix to your bike for good FC.

If you mod things and want good FC, I'm going to kanachee you!

because.... If you want the horse to run, you need to feed it grass.

Hi Bro, May I introduce you to a most technologically advanced lubrication product called MSP(Molecular Science Product).

MSP works by building a very tough and durable but flexible micro-layer surface on the engine surfaces. MSP reduces wear by *up to 95%. I think MSP would cut down your maintenance and fuel costs substantially over time.

MSP Engine oil enhancer is suitable for addition to engine oil to protect internal engine surfaces.

MSP fuel conditioner improves combustion and also cleans combustion systems and parts.

MSP FUEL CONDITIONER

MSP Fuel Conditioner adds an extra boost to the performance of a motorcycle/car/truck engine:

It cleans deposits and gum from the fuel injection system, carburetor, upper engine, valves, and lifters. It keeps the parts of these systems clean for as long as MSP is applied as recommended.*

It lubricates and eliminates wear of the moving parts of the upper engine, fuel injection system, valves, lifters and carburetors.*

It contributes to much cleaner emission gasses (you will not have any problem passing a smog test). The catalytic converter lasts much longer

MSP Fuel Conditioner Test Data

Test Sample/Carbon Monoxide %/Carbon Dioxide %/Hydrocarbon Emission ppm

Xxx Injector Cleaner and Conditioner/1.99/18.09/435

Standard Pump Petrol/0.07/19.82/195

MSP Fuel Conditioner/0.01/1.8/50

Fuel Consumption Test Data(with MSP FC and MSP EF added)

Lincoln Town Car

Trip without MSP

Miles Traveled Fuel Used (Gal) Miles per Gal

272.20 12.20 22.30

Trip with MSP added to engine oil and fuel

Miles Traveled Fuel Used (Gal) Miles per Gal Improvement

284.30 11.30 25.10 12.5%

401.60 14.70 27.30 22.0%

309.20 10.80 28.60 28.2%

306.10 10.20 30.00 34.5%

The performance gets better and better with mileage until it reaches its peak performance
