Just collected the sparkling new ride last week and have barely put 100km to the meter.

A one-sentence preliminary impression should suffice for now:

The Tigra is a lot of bike for its price and cc.

As and when time permits, I'll be posting further impressions and pictures of my first 2-wheeler purchased brand new, after one and a half decades tottering handlebars without killing myself.

Frankly, downsizing has brought the joy back to riding. No more struggling with a big bike's heft and size, or lugging all that riding gear along. Automatic twist & go is a god-sent in town, and my left shoe is grateful it'll finally look as clean as the right. :-)

Thanks Alvin, for recommending the model, which looks like this (for those who're unfamiliar with the Taiwanese brand):

Some observations:

1. Instrument panel is very rich. Clock, voltage, fuel, temperature, engine status, even altitude!

2. Initial acceleration is strong and linear, without being ham-fisted.

3. Body panels (other than the black bits) are rigid and well-finished.

4. Rear brake lacks feel but front is sharp and powerful. Safety feature?

5. Suspension is stiff. Handles well but you do feel every bump.

6. Seat is hard. Not for long trips. Seat wrap is non-slippery and looks rather durable.

7. Exhaust note lacks refinement and a little too loud for my liking but nothing approaching aftermarket mufflers from Akra, Leo Vince.

8. No passing/hazard switches but I didn't expect these on a 2B scooter.

9. Voltage is very stable with the engine running (14.4V).

10. Full tank range to be determined. Surprised fuel gauge is still full at ~100km.

11. Vibrations and harshness (at this early stage) has exceeded expectations. No numb hands in the longest ride (~30min) yet.

12. Lights (signal and headlamp) are bright. Both low and high beam aim points are tuned for urban environments (Low beam a little too close for my liking but useful for parking in tight, dark alleys)

13. No windscreen so a quiet helmet is a must.

Update on fuel economy:

5l RON 98 burns for 202km = 40km/l, 80/20 highway/town cycle. Fuel meter starts flashing around the 5l mark, leaving 1.8l in the tank as reserve (50-70 km range before empty). Max range = 250-270 km.

And I realized there is a passing switch. Just press down on the low beam!

Changed the gloves to a thinner, looser fitting pair and it's no longer a problem activating and cancelling the signal lights.
