Hi X8 owners,

Looking for used X8 spare parts or you found some items from your garage that used to be on X8..?

Do let me first start my wish list:

1. Anyone happened to have a spare /used passenger grab handle for sale?

2. Used aftermarket X8 exhaust for sale?

Or you saw a forsaken X8 somewhere in this tiny Singapore island, please flag it up here.

I just gotten myself old and "mis treated" X8, so I am hoping this tread could provide some useful pointers to locate bargain basement stuff for X8 "DIY-er".

Hi TSH,

Is there anything I can help? What's up?

Hi. Just wondering how much is my 9 yrs old x9 worth in the market.

Tot of selling it.

Posted

Subjective answer. roughly $500-800 for machine and parts, assuning its for one year left for usage, that is for a easy sale. Else hope a $1k -1.2k if there are buyers who are keen in a 200cc Maxi scooter.

I would recommend you rather make friends and give it away to your friends who might want to renew the COE.

dun pay those suckers anything more than $500/year for old bikes...not worth it.

couldnt agree more... but it really depends if the buyer of the bike is literate to understand what parts may be worn from a single engine start too. ;)

Nowadays sellers hv a very unrealistic price for their bikes....high ego.

After several mths...LL hv to sell low to bike shop.

Like that they feel shiok....:cheeky:

Well truebiker, it's only normal that every seller wants the best highest possible price and buyers want the lowest rock bottom prices. Do be fair to a person to dream for that. :)

If you'd search the Internet for used piaggio parts, you wouldn't be surprise to the prices that are selling in other parts of the world... Ie. http://www.ebay.co.uk.

Posted

Pls dun take offence...i'm just stating facts of private sellers in general, not specific to piaggio.

i do agree Piaggio parts are more ex but of better quality & more reliable.

From buyer point of view...

Purchasing older bikes will hv higher risk of costly repairs.

And this is also why most ppl are unwilling to pay a premium for such old scooters.

Unless yr bike falls under the collector category like Vespa or H D..etc

To TrueBiker, No worries mate and no offense taken... :)

It's ok to air your opinion.

Agreed, from your point of view as buyer.

I believe there should be a certain baseline for selling of bikes too, just to calculate just how much we can sell.

Take for example (real case) I bought a 35 year old VW beetle @ $16k and 1 year later I Renew the COE @ $18k, then i rebuild it 1) painting $2k, 2) engine $3k, redo the interiors plus accessories $4k.

So when I decide to sell, advertise for $45k for 3 month ... no buyers.. :(

Then I consigned it to a shop, they sold it for $65k. ( the beetle had no absolutely no work needed to done ).

The Trick ? Well.. it was parked next to a 20 yr Porsche going for $160k and 15 yrs old Ferrari that going for $180k.... I got my $45k back and the shop made $20k...in a week.

So the story goes to show the power of the law of relativity ...hahaha... Just my 2cents.. :)

Hi

Just got a X8 200cc on Monday. For about 20 year never ride a bike now trying to get use to it at my car park and some small road.

There is some scratches on the Left side of the protection panel (silver plate) which is an eye saw to me! Intent to change it, any idea where I could buy a used /new one? estimated price for this panel.

Thanks cheers:slurp:

Hi Safe&ins,

I would supposed, it will be cheaper if you could check and get from the local dist spare part store for the silver strip. I think the building is located somewhere at Macpherson area. Check in this singaporebike forum for the name of the distributor company.

I had been there in dec 2012 to enquire for a X8 new head lamp assembly ($150++), and they still carry stock then.

Else ebay.com.uk is the other option.

Btw, welcome back to riding, I am pretty much the same case as you.

Do be extra careful with this scooter, as the weight can be pretty heavy.

I had recently fractured my mid foot + ankle from a slow speed skid (20 km/h) in avoiding a Red taxi who was driving blindly and failed to observe a stop sign, and nearly side clashed me ...

The lucky thing is... i have recovered since... :)

Ps: Do kindly post back to here, on the prices of the parts if you managed to find them locally.

Cause I had badly scratch my plastic panel too in my recent mishap, and may want to explore on replacing them if I finally decide to renew COE. :$
