Horn went haywire

During the heavy thunderstorm last nite, I did not cover my bike because it was totally wet & my cover is wet too. Unfortunately, this had caused my Hella electric horn to go haywire.

 

At 3am, 3 Police Officers knock on my door looking for me. They were telling me that my horn is sounding off itself for a few hours & they received complains calls from the public. Then I went to my bike with them to check on it, the horn sound off again! I quickly disconnect the horn otherwise I think my neighbours will burn down my bike.

 

Another issue, my battery voltage is normally 14.5v when I start up my bike, but it dropped to 13.1v LOL. I was very embarrassed that my bike has caused such trouble to my neighbours

 

I tried to connect the horns back when I made my way to work this morning. Halfway through my journey to office, my horn suddenly sound off again after I overtake a bike. I think he had a big shock LOL! I wanted to say sorry but he already rode off quickly after I slow down. I then quickly ride slowly to the road shoulder & disconnect again.

 

What could be the problem here? Relay gone haywire because of the heavy rain?

yup suspect its ur relay. just try change ur relay and relocate it to somewhere that wont be so exposed to rain and vibrations.

One way to solve funny problem is to get the shop to re-wire everything from scratch from the battery.

Wiring was done when I took over the bike. Mechanic verified to be relay faulty, & changed it

Yup, it's working perfectly normal now. He opened up my old relay & show me, it's filled with water. Guess the water caused "short circuit" to the horn.

Better do something before the new relay fill up again...

I failed to cover my bike during the heavy thunderstorm. Somemore, previous mechanic placed it facing upwards, in a location where water can get in easily.

That's why I got it relocated to somewhere "less" likely to contain water.
