GE money is a good choice, as mentioned above.. but 20%+ interest would be a killer....

Hitachi only do it for Class 2A and above... 6k should be 2A or 2 bike... but like you mentioned, theres a income requirement...

last option is to approach bike shops for hire purchase.. but alot more steps involve and not 100% loan.. still gotta cough up money...

Typically they only loan up the to market value of your bike. So if the bike that you're buying is priced way above its market rate cos u're either a roberto or you're paying for accesories, then u have to foot part of the costs

From the ice cream man bike aka my little black lamb RX100..to All Blacks Bandit 400, to the legendary 1285 bandit;)

Just saw the GE Money website, think i'll take up the personal loan and pay from there. Instead of taking a loan for the bike.

wow... great info here!! thx merlino 4 putting up e link...

btw, let's do e math here...

Hitachi: 5% int per annum

Motodiam: 4% (brand-new) - 10% (sumtimes a lil' bit more) int per annum

GE Money: almost 20% int per annum

so fellow bikers, pls relook e method of choosing ur loans... obviously, banks or financial institutions charge exorbitant rates 'cos tt's one of their primary source of income... a word of advice: do e math with me! :thumb:

Hi,

Just to share a few observations. If you look through the Classified Ads for the past few weeks, you would have noticed that there would be a GE Advertisement for repossessed cars. It is always a long list and it seems as though the car-buyers jumped onto GE's wagon to get the loan without considering the consequences.

I've tried looking around too, although just briefly, and yes Hitachi only loans for bikes >1000cc.

As for Everbright, I once bought a first-hand bike for hire-purchase. Low interest of around 2.88% I think, but there was once I defaulted on payment for a month plus and I received a 'red letter' for repossession within 14 days.

However I guess if one commits to paying on-time it'll be fine. Eh just don't be too rash in your decisions. If you're not earning much, anything above $250 is terrible. Imagine for the month where you have to pay for Road Tax or your insurance renewal. Your savings will be zilch.

Unless of course fortune comes your way..

All the best. Hope this helps.
