Hi ! need help from the more experienced riders here , have owned this sp for roughly 2 mths now , very satisfied with the bike and loving it

right now. But i have a few questions regarding to the bike , hope that i'll be enlightened by the seniors here! (:

1) My usual idling speed is like 1.8k below 2k , but i realize sometimes after traveling and while stopping at traffic light , my idling speed actually increases to like 3k rpm , when i release the clutch a little , it drops back to the usual 1.8k and idles there , but sometimes it will automatically go back to idling at 3k rpm. Is there something that i should do abt this?

2)Currently have an airbox but without any filter inside , is it wise to do so? Heard from a bike mech that without air filter is okay , just that have to wash carb more often thn others and bike fc will be a little worse. Have been thinking of installing K&N air filter , will the power be the same and yet fc improve?

3) How often to decarb pipe and wash carb? Currently feels that when my bike moving off is abit heavy. Will decarb pipe and washing the carb affect the settings and tunings of the bike? Is decarb-ing the pipe in singapore legal? as i believe it will cause the exhaust to be louder right?

Hopefully the seniors in the forum will be able to address my issues with my bike! The bike is working fine and performing well , just that i'm a paranoid little soul hahaha. thanks!

Put back the air filter. It was there for a reason.

The engine might be running richer or leaner when its hot... turn the fuel mixture screw half a turn close or open when the engine is idling at 3k and and see how.

If you dunno what I am talking about.. I suggest you bring to your mechanic then.

agreed. you need to adjust the flow to the right amount.

Hello, i ride SP also, about 3 months already. When i read that your idling is 1.8k - 3k rpm, i'm a bit shocked, cos mine is usually around 1k.

I seen my mechanic adjust the idling for me before, it's just turning some knob near the carburettor. But if untrained, don't touch it! Get someone who knows what they are doing to set it for you. My suggestion is to take a day off, head down to a good motorshop and do top servicing. It may cost anywhere from $100-$200 dependent on shop. Will definitely cost more if need parts replacement. >.

When i got my SP, first thing i did was full top servicing, replaced piston ring, washed carb, and got my mechanic to set the mix ratio for me. From pumping petrol once every 3 days, it went to once every 4.5. Big difference i would say.

Decarb is not illegal. They basically remove the carbon from your pipe and makes your bike lighter. Also could help remove any possible obstructions within the pipe which can cause performance drops. Illegal is when you mod the pipes by removing the catalytic converter etc.

RIDE.
