Let's look at it this way...

You want to save 65 cents by parking at the place instead of a designated lot. You are making a gamble with uncle sammie and juz too bad you lost this time. So be a good boy and go pay up bah.

It is better to keep quiet and remain a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubts...

if there are grounds for an appeal, then sure.

i wonder how many people actually have valid reasons for committing the offences. i'm sure 90% of the people just come up with bs stories for appeal and other people with genuine reasons to appeal get passed over.

The fine should be S$70 or S$120. Can't remember which one...

its $70.. $120 comes with 3 bonus demerit points for parking opposite double white or parking within demerit points zone(eg: traffic lights junction, zebra crossing,zig-zag and double zig-zag)

well all comes down to the rider/driver. parking inappropriately and thus causing nuisance or inconvenience to other road users/pedestrians is a inconsiderate act done by you and you should face the music.

Notice there is alot of 'goody too shoes' in here. When someone is aking for an advice of appeal, just support it.don't say they are the one that cause your appeal to be turned down. each ofence has it's reason be it valid or otherwise and people here should'nt be to judgemental for god sake..And PLEASE-PLEASE,do not refer S'pore gov as "UNCLE SAM'. That term is for the states only.Watching too much of hollywood movies,eh?

Again being judgmental,oh well. This is my first post under this nick, never posted with my old(as far as i could remember)Why would i care about being flamed if people here doesn't even know my original nick in the first place? I hate sounding stupid but the truth is I have forgotten not just my password, but also my nick too. so i created a new one. i don't know how that can be considered 'hypocrite'. I know i sounded a bit harsh for my first post, but i feel this is a place where our fellow bikers go to have some support,in any kind,so when i see someone 'kicking a person when he's down' it doesn't bode to well with my idea of 'supporting your fellow rider' theory.

okay i might be pushing it a little, but if someone decides to steal just because he's too lazy to reach for his wallet. i don't think the person deserves any sympathy if he gets caught.

i'm getting a bit :offtopic: but if i get caught for illegal parking, i'd just say "ah crap. lost the gamble" or "why was i so blind not to have seen the white lines?" instead of trying to squirm out of it.

okay that's all from me. sorry if anyone got offended. :thumb:

Good point,so don't sympathise for him,he did not ask for sympathy, like many others before him in this board that had the same predicament with similar question, but the fella doesn't need someone to rub it in,right?if he he wanted a scolding he might as well ask an opinion frm the guy that fine him,not us.

whatever it is, just appeal. appeal still got 50% chance of fine being waive. I know some pple will say, admit the mistake, be a man and pay up. but again theres no harm to appeal. According to the book, it may be a serious offence. but who knows, if u give a good reason. u may get the fine waive or reduce. :goodluck:

ok if what u say is true then i have indeed wronged you.. if you aint new here you should know those people who go around creating new nick just to make senseless post.. anyway.. we should try putting ourselves in his shoes.. lets say i am the one being summoned cause i parked illegally. but who do i blame? of cus its myself being the factor that i know i am not allowed to park here.. yet i take the risk of parking here as i am lazy to park at the carpark/proper lot. so if i do get summoned, just tough luck. knowingly commiting an offence makes u a guilty party straight away. lets say for instance alot of people know that its illegal to ride on road shoulder.. but knowingly, people still do it , people got their reasons. its as good as killing someone knowingly you'll be hanged if u get caught. as the saying goes.. do anything but dont get caught.

hmmm... its jus the kiasu attitude instilled. We all wan more for less.

However if a fine can be reduced .... look on the bright side. It can also be increased. Possibly to the max of a fine and demerit points.

Unless some1 is dying i hardly think there is a real excuse for parking illegally jus to save 65cents.

An hour of work = $4.00 (at least)

Filing an appeal = 1 day

Attending court = 1day

If fine reduces = still kena fine + loss of income from work

If fine increased = 8hrs of work at $4 = $32 x 2 = $64 + Fine

lets round it up to $65 = 10 booklets = 100 coupons ....

Truly an efficient way to save on the increasin GST

I'm sorry, but you are totally missing the point.I know, you know and even the guy that was fine knows that he is guilty. That's old news, this guy is asking a simple question as to whether it's possible to appeal, that's all. The appeal is not to overturn the 'guilty' verdict but rather to get leniency. Rather than getting an answer, all he got was people telling him he 'deserve' it,he should pay for his crime against humanity,he is a menace to society,an abomination, illegal parking=no appeal, just hang the guy. So my point is, question=answer, not question=lecture.

One other thing, enough with the 'killing analogy' already. It's an exercise of futile exaggeration.
