i feel it depends on which mech u go to....

personally i only trust ah keong with my bike. ah keong is the thinner guy, also the most friendly of all the mechs. mayb he does not know everything but at least he is careful and will explain to you nicely. basically i go back to him because i feel his standards are okay and he will not cheat me.

ah hock is the guy with a slight potbelly =P usually wears brown shirt... his knowledge seems to be okay but not exceptional... also he will have a little bit of attitude when talking to you... so i dont like to deal with him.

the other 2 guys there, i dont feel confident with...

Hi, was wondering if they have BT020 from the wide selection of tyres they have there.. Anyone changed tyres there before? Price steep? I'm using a ZXR400..

audrain : any tyre you want, just call them and they can order for you.

guys as a regular at combine, i'll just like to share another great experience i had there.

those of you who know me personally may know my bike has always been giving me problems. about 3 months ago, i noticed my gear oil level dropping rapidly and smoke emission increasing. since then i have gone to 3 mechanics, all who say different things and charge me to 'fix' the problem. to cut things short, i end up spending over 1k over these 3 months on this problem alone, which frankly i cannot afford.

now i'm not just impressed because ah keong manage to solve this problem, its also HOW he solved it.

when i brought my bike in i told him i want him to do a full overhaul, to take everything apart and see what is the problem. he actually listens to my input and not treat me like i dont know what is going on. he never take one look at my p plate and my young age and think i don't know anything about bikes, or dont have technical knowledge, dont have experience etc etc. he never immediately assume the problem is the oil seal or some other component like some of the other mechs i go to, end up wasting my time on something that is not spoilt.

in total i left my bike there for a week. during this week, he actually called me down because he wants me to understand what is wrong with the bike. i believe not many shops in singapore will actually bother to do that. when i went down, he showed me there is crack in one side of my engine internal cover. so when he poured petrol into my top block, the petrol actually leaks out through the block into my gearbox..... thus my gear oil can also flow into the block and be combusted, producing excessive smoke. as a regular, he also occasionally gives me freebies like topping up my fork oil when i complain my forks are soft.

but what really takes the cake is that a couple of days after everything is settled, he actually did a personal follow-up call to my hp and ask me how the bike is, whether the riding is smooth, whether the problems still exist. this is what i really feels makes them special; most shops once they take your money they're happy and run... in our experience how many motordiam actually care about customer satisfaction?

in conclusion, i'm really impressed by combine's committment, attention to detail and customer service... one of my best experiences so far.

Of list of motortiam I went via serviced mine SP for the past 2 year, this's the BEST motordiam that deserve commendation. When Ah Keong enquire from me... the problem mine bike having, I do follow-up with him a string of problem thus request a major servicing. Afterthat he'll trial-test mine bike thus will feedback to me the remedy patiently, then start to dismantle the valve / piston / carburettor / gasket / block / radiator & etc. Part by part... he remove the carbon stain by wire brush... clean it either with kerosene or petrol. Beside that he do check via lubricate mine clutch / brake cable / throttle thus check mine tyre pressure as well. Whole duration take about 6 hours cos he was alone thus gonner serve other customers. Charges a bit high but it really worth... Now mine bike as good as new... the feeling is great ! :lovestruck: Anyway... ~ 3 Cheers for you! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

2 sided, they call cos they are not confident in their workmanship or they really care. All depends on how you look at it.

I don't wish mech to call me to ask me stupid question, they will make me feel they lack of confidence in their own workmanship.

but if they bother to answer my call in the middle of the night and comes to my aid, tt's really service.

ya lor, how would u feel if some shops juz "operate" on your bike without letting u koe 1st? not nice wor..

for mi i rather the mech ask mi stupid quest.. at least i koe wats goin on..

Dear Teepee & Rikk, both of u may hv misunderstand. as i said, 2 sided, depends how u look @ it.

To me repeat TO ME mech called to check after.svc is not necessary

when they called, what question did he ask?how's ur bike,ok & etc... i think only mech tt lack of confidence wl ask redundant question.Good svc dont hv to be this way.Just ensure they did a perfect job b4 handling e key to u, not over charging u, assist u whenever u require, admit & accept their own mistake,if any.

TO ME TO ME TO ME TO ME TO ME TO - -i dont need such mech.

TO OTHERS, may b u like it.

It is just 2 sided & different pple hv different expectation & point of view.

But after reading e posted articles, very keen to pay them a visit, hope they dont call me after repair.

Super4 try the fuel crackers?

i find it exp, but he didnt force to buy. he let us ride try till lornie road.

Aerosmith, same as u he did the same thing , folllow up on my leaking "somewhere" with smoke. I was very happy with this. i didnt expect his call too. I asked hm if he wanted me to bring down the bike to see yourselves again , he said no. I just want to re-assure the problem wont happen again for you.

SO IMPRESSED!

Went to combine motor yesterday. But I didn't approach them 1st, I went to Bike Connection looking at some interesting bikes there. Later, I went to combine motor, told 1 white hair uncle tt I want to change tyres, he looked at my bike and was saying that that's a very old bike (yes, i was thinking to myself, 10yrs old and only 3 in spore). I was happy at 1st to mistake tt's a compliment. I was wrong. he told me to refer to Bike Connection. then i asked him, are both shops the same, he says yes. That really makes me furious, another insult, that I don't understand signboard written in English or Chinese - so guess combine motor don't change tyres for old bike.

What kind of service quality are you guys talking about? Told him i want to change tyres and he refers me to BC and says both shops are the same. Or my tyres too cheap and they don't wish to do my biz? or bcos he has never seen this bike and no confidence to do a simple job like changing tyres? Or he got kopi $ fm BC to betray his boss or he tot I m a customer to BC and don't wish to makes their relationship sour. Whatever. I think that will be my 1st and last visit there.

when I was home, I gave excuses that may be they are biz but 2nd tot, Not crowded when I was there, the white hair uncle even help the security guard to control traffic.

No fate, i guess.

Maybe you should try going to LAB instead. Firstly they will have to stocks for any bike, no discrimination between new or old, absolutely full of pride & confidence in their workmanship and they won't ever ever call you to bug you.

Agreed with you, been there b4, tech or boss, i don't know, good knowledge for suspension, can tell me my bike front suspension is from which designer and company, i didn't know, tot it was just a normal telescopic front suspension. but didn't know they change tyres, tot they specilised in suspension only and racing bike.

will give them a try. tks for your info.

Combine motor and bike connection has a business agreement all of bike connec bikes are serviced at combine. They are very close, stock is shared by both shops.

as tyres for your old bike I was riding a 18yrs old prevously, has it occured to you that they don't keep stock of tyre meant for 10yrs old bike, maybe different size of width, and the need bike C to order from them.
