Hello guys finally can upgrade to a Class 2.

I was thinking whether to get a 600 or 1000cc 06 CBR. (I like the design of the 06 CBRs so don't ask me to get the newer models. Plus i'm on a budget)

I was wondering which one is best suited for Singapore riding. I know most of you will say both are not, but that's not the point.

Thing is I want to try out a super sports bike. It's a YOLO thing. Haha.

I would like to know what is the major difference between the two in terms of temperature while riding, in a jam. The cornering, comfortability etc.

And I heard from all of my friends who rode 600ccs that they wished they got a 1000cc instead. So yea..

Just like to hear your comments.

And any bros out there can point out how much difference is the insurance, road tax and fc between the two. (Is there gna be a big difference?)That would be a plus

Thanks in advance for the constructive comments :cheeky:

i donno the exact difference tax, insurance and fc, but i think the difference is minor, even fc. and maintenance i believe is identical in terms of cost.

a bigger difference is the ride experience.

the 600 comes fully alive only past 9000rpm. below that rpm, you can still outrun a super4 if you just big-twist the throttle, but the engine is really alive only past 9000. it really feels like a different bike above and below this rpm. cruising at 5000rpm, not happy car in front too slow, change lane and full throttle, it takes one second of gradual acceleration while the needle climbs before it hits 9000 and you really feel yourself surging forward. do the same while cruising at 9000, one twist of the throttle and before you know it, the car is in your wing mirrors.

the fireblade on the other hand, the power comes out even low down the rpm. as long as you twist the throttle, it will instantly surge forward. thats the main difference.

so the downside is that 90% of the time you feel 'frustrated' or 'wasted' knowing you're not riding in the bike's sweet spot. bear in mind 1st gear 11k rpm you go past 100kmh, how to ride in the >9k rpm sweet spot all the time? then again, the upside is you have the choice of riding a 'gentle' bike when you keep below 8000rpm, you can outrun a super4 but its not scary and it doesn feel like a mad dog pulling at the leash.

so think about the kind of ride experience you looking for.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Would a couple hundred matter to you per year?

Lets put it at 600$ more.

Do you like the overkill?

Besides that,

1000 is a super bike. You can try racing with ferraris and such. Sport Touring will be more fun.

It also brakes better with the 6 port caliper rather than the 4 port on a 600.

Also with the 1000, you hardly mid line it. Engine last longer.

600 is a sports bike and would be nicer to commute with.

At 2.5-4k rpm, im at about singapores speed limit.

Here's my take after riding both GSXR1000 and FZ6S2.

600cc Supersport - not recommended

  • Low torque at low revs, not good for urban start-stop traffic
  • Power band high in the rev range, difficult to access, pay for 100+hp but can't use
  • Tend to have razor-sharp handling, require great skill and concentration
  • Frequent gear changes to keep the engine in the sweet spot, overtaking can be a lot of work
  • High rev means loud exhaust which attracts unwanted TP/ROV attention
  • More fuel efficient than 1000cc, road tax and insurance are cheaper, but maintenance is about the same

1000cc Superbike - recommended

  • Monster torque and power from idle to redline, get your money's worth
  • Easy to ride if rider respects the throttle, can overtake in any gear
  • Tend to have longer wheelbase, more stable at speed and slightly more forgiving
  • King of the road, no need to give way to anything except emergency vehicles, can out-accelerate Ferrari or GTR
  • Maintenance same as 600cc, but burns more fuel and cost more in road tax and insurance

And finally I ditched both and went for something in-between but also different.

I downgraded from 1100cc touring bike to a 600cc super sports bike.

I was contemplating to get a 1000cc sports bike, but after much consideration, I went with praticality and went ahead with the 600cc.

Cheaper road tax and insurance

I don't use my current ride as commuting purpose.

I don't have the time to go touring as my work schedule doesn't allow so.

Singapore road wont fully utilise the 1000cc torque

I have rode with malaysians friends riding 600cc naked/street bikes on NSHW, they had no difficulty catching up with the 1000s, infact few of them were faster then me on my 1100

my friend riding his GSR 400 was able to catch up with three 1000cc bike on the NSHW

I love playing corners like simpang pulai, tapah, etc

I doubt 600cc cant catch up with 1000cc on twisties

infact hayabusa was behind me when I was playing corners down Simpang Pulai on my 1100 touring bike. But straight line Hayabusa on the NSHW straight line he is king!

my friend riding his GSR 400 was able to catch up with three 1000cc bike on the NSHW avg speed 150-160kmh

Hope u get my point

It's the rider

Hahahaha thanks for all the advices. Looks like all are leaning towards 1000cc.

And that is why I got my CBR1000 today from republic motor. Super impatient.

Can't wait to burn some tire rubber on the roads. (just kidding)

Thanks again for the advices.
