I am inexperienced and just passed on 1st July. Apologies if I use the wrong terms in the following explanation: I have bought a motorcycle in September. The down payment is a total of $6000. I paid $1000 to ‘reserve’ the bike and collected the bike on 3rd September - paid remaining $5000. On 4th October, while I was riding, my engine died at a stop I made right outside my condo. Ever since then, it happened at every stop light or instances where I had to stop. I informed my friend, who recommended me this shop, and she informed me to return to the shop. I waited a couple of days thinking it would be fine. On 7th October, I returned to the shop and informed the mechanic. It was extremely hot, so I told the mechanic to do a check while I get a quick drink from a nearby coffee shop. When I came back, he said the problem should be resolved. I asked what went wrong? He claimed that I should pump petrol at ‘Shell’ instead of ‘SPC’, ‘Esso’ and ‘Caltex’. It sounded illogical, but nevertheless, I trusted them and started patronising Shell. It did happen a couple of times again. I was afraid, so, at every stop, I would throttle. The engine will not die if I throttle without letting go of the clutch. Out of fear in busy roads and causing danger to other road users, I kept doing that. However, I got really frustrated after consulting friends who are motorbike owners. On 21 October, it happened at every stop light. I, once again, informed my friend. I informed her that I have used Shell petrol only. I sent her the message at about 11:00PM. Soon later, I fell down as I did not realise the engine has switched off. I informed her and said I will have to go to the shop. There was no damage, scratches or any sign of falling. Nevertheless, I informed my friend anyway. The following day, on 22nd October, I went back to the shop once more. This would be my second time. They used an air gun to clean the parts they believe are the components contributing to the engine issue. Once again they said ‘if it happens again, come back’. After the second return, my bike continued to experience the same engine issues. This started on 31 October. I rarely rode as I work from home and no longer required the transportation as often. My friend informed me that it is something, even she, a person who sold over 100 bikes, have never encountered. I informed her at about 3pm. I then decided to go about when I experienced a bad fall in the evening. I had bruises on my ankle, wrist and arm. I was in shock and called a friend to fetch me. I wanted to be patient and understand how this may be stressful for them. But after the bad fall, I couldn’t put myself through such risks anymore. At 7:44PM, I texted her and refused to ride the bike any longer. I decided to leave it at the shop overnight. My handle bar and front tire are no longer aligned from the impact of the fall. I messaged the manager and informed him that I will be leaving it overnight. I then told him I am free on Thursday or Sunday to collect, assuming giving them a couple of days would provide them with time to figure out what went wrong. On 3rd November, I messaged the manager regarding the misalignment. He then replied and said his shop does not have the equipments to do so. I asked him if fixing it at another shop will void the warranty, which he did not answer. I enquired with another bike shop. However, I never got the chance to drop the other bike shop a visit. This was because, I went to collect my bike as they said it is ready for collection. This would have been my third time returning to them regarding the same issue. Upon arriving, I started my bike. Unfortunately, the engine died before I could move off. I immediately sent the video to the manager of my attempts to even warm up my engine. He instructed me to rev, i recorded, rev and the engine died once more. He then said to rev to 3K RPM only and for 30 seconds, I did, sent a video of the engine dying. I was really trying my best to remain in good terms with the shop considering my warranty is with them and that I believed they were trying their best. I refused to collect the bike and told him I will be leaving it again and hope for the issue to be rectified which he agreed. This could be considered as my fourth time leaving my bike with them. I did so much research throughout the whole course of this experience. These experiences have brought so much distress, putting into consideration that it a brand new vehicle. I have done as much research, whatsapped the manager possible solutions, went through various forum threads, screenshooting similar experiences, sending links, in hopes that in one way or another, this would assist them to figure out what went wrong.. I have not even went for my first servicing as the mileage has not even reached the expected mileage requirement. I have many more videos but they are all pretty much the same.

Please advice on the steps I should take.

it sounds to me like engine idling problem.
engine seems cannot sustain by itself when idling
what is the idling speed ?
I can't see your dash well ...

are there any warning lights on the dash ?
what fuel did you pump ? 92, 95, 98 ?

the brand of the fuel doesn't matter.
so the part where they tell you have to pump shell instead of SPC, Esso, Caltex sounds like bullshit;
which shop did u get this bike from anyway ?

actually, since it's a new bike, you should not take the bike when they cannot resolve the idling problem.

Do you have the owner's manual ?
There is an adjustment for idling speed (7-15)

agreed.. adjust the idling.. 2B usually should have..

&the bike shop seems very very inexperience.. should never have this minor issue.. =.='''

fuel usually recommended 95 (MIN) for newer bikes.. and have you can afford, 98 will be best..

Yes.. Shell only is... B*... so any prefer gas stations is fine.. just dun put in diesel.. hahaha..

and why your camera vibrate so badly? are you using a mount?

Lastly, go planet motor for free checks if you brought around Ubi area.. :)

@Stnrn

I reported the whole timeline to CASE & asked for a replacement. After a long month+ of error & multiple repairs, The shop has admitted it was a manufacturing error after running diagnostic/dyno tests. They have rectified the error.  So I’ll be collecting the bike today and see how it goes! Nevertheless, thank u for replying! 😀

In case anyone faces this, please note my shop tried the following

Repair Session 1: Nothing
Repair session 2: Fuel pump & entire fuel tank changed
Repair Session 3: Throttle body swapped out with new one
Repair Session 4: Spark plug and plug coil swapped out with new one

or at least that’s what they told me. None of the above worked. Hence, the bike was towed to their main workshop to run the tests. Hopefully, after the 5th repair; all is well 😀

Don't take the bike if there's even one single thing not working. It's their responsibility to deliver a working bike to customer, not customer wasting their time and risk their lives to test the bike for them.

Take your time to inspect, leave the bike running for 5 minutes or so. If u can get adesmond or someone experienced to help u there, that would be a good thing.

Good luck.

Oh, and by the way, I hope they are not charging u for all those things ... Right ?

In fact I think they should be compensating you for all the bad experience ....
