Query on IU Inspection & Servicing

NETS motoring card fails to deduct value, or on carpark entry I see a "No IU Detected".
I put in and take out the card and the IU appears fine, I think something is wrong with the carpark gantries 'detecting' it.

Do you recommend to bring the bike back to the shop to check the IU Installation?
Or straight go to VICOM for them to inspect (website says they may incur charges if wiring poorly done...)

Bike is new and still in pure stock configuration, so no self-repair was ever attempted yet.

Hi @pinksheep, try method 1 at late night or early hours when no one will go in or out of the gantry.

1) move your bike to different angles to attempt to "align" your IU towards the gantry reader..  (look for the grey box that's facing down) also remember to position your bike at the "bike section".

2) see if your IU can adjust abit or not, tilt the angle to match the gantry reader.

3) if all above failed and gantry still cannot detect, bring to Vicom and ask them to check if your IU if it's working or not (if it's within warranty) If they say workable, go to your preferred workshop and ask them how's the position of IU, ask them to help to readjust if possible.

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Thanks Bro.

I did some test rides around and IU seem fine at my home carpark and the usual Mscp I park beside Jurong Point. That one has double gantry so any IU fault would be really obvious.

But some gantry the angle of detection seem odd or the system just give up and show me no IU detected or fail to deduct. The fault doesn't happen all the time but It's annoying in a group ride and you are "that guy" holding up the team lol.

For good measure I firmly pressed the wires into the back of the IU and it was fine for past few days.

Next round of servicing I will ask shop to move IU to the right handlebar hopefully it will scan easier from there. And also double check for any loose connections inside fairing.

Who knows, some high speed riding or hard bumps may have upset something.

usually keep it on left side.. cuz cars angle on right side is our left side.. if you swap to right side.. I'm just worried that you will have more issues later..
