Thanks firdybirdy for your advice, very helpful indeed. I'm just a bit frustrated at CDC's practical slot availability for weekday evenings and weekends, seems almost impossible to book. I'm working during weekdays it's hard to check every hour for slot availability. Does anyone know if it's easier to book weekday evening or weekend practical lessons at SSDC/BBDC?

1. To put you bike back on mainstand, use your right leg to step on the mainstand lever. Your right hand should be holding the metal beam near the rear wheel and your left hand on the left handlebar (assuming you're on the left side of the bike). Next, you pull the beam in your right hand upwards and you pull the handle bar in your left hand backwards. Do this in one motion.

2. It's normal to brake too early or too late in our first try. And of course our body is stiff because we're newbie and we don't really trust the two wheeled beast in our first few practicals. That's why we are there to learn and the instructors are there to teach. You'll get the hang of it in a while. It needs practice to perfect it. Anyway you should ALWAYS down gear to gear 1 at ANY TIME when you're stopping. Don't go neutral unless you're going to dismount the bike.

3. I used to have the same problem when booking for practicals. The slots are limited. But from what i learn on this forum, you have to always check the CDC portal every hour to see if anyone cancelled their slots during that time. And always try to book your practicals two days apart so you can cancel them if you have passed on that day. We are given 18 cancellations so put it to good use.

Hope this helps. I'm sure our senior forum members here are able to give you more tips if you ask.

I now learning 2b at ssdc now, and waiting for tp at 22oct.

I can only learn during weekend. So far the lesson I'm able to book every weekend and I still some slot at weekday evening but my workplace is too far. And it took me 3 months to clear all the practical. The only problem is the system will lock one you book a practical. Meaning you do not know if anybody doing try sell.

But you can always cancel your practical to go into the system see if got earlier date if not usually u still can book back the same time slot u cancel.

Once you reach practical 5, 6, the slot is harder to book.

Cheers😀

When you're new it's always hard to believe that there's light at the end of the tunnel. I have only one thing to share with you.

It's not a matter of "if" you'll get it - it's a matter of "when". Keep trying, don't give up. Before you know it, your muscles will start getting much more used to the movements.

If you're not able to mount the plank, you should try the clutch-in method. It represents your best chance at consistency in mounting the plank at this stage. After you get more confident on the plank, you can move on to the half-clutch method, which will allow you to stay on longer, for the 8-10 second timings required for Class 2A and 2. For now, use the "cheat" method and clutch in - the increased consistency will give you a much-needed confidence boost.

Trust me - I took the plank 4 times. I feel your pain.

Class 3 - 24 Jan 2006 - Lancer, Impreza TS, Impreza WRX

Class 2B - 28 October 2010 - SP, KRR

Class 2A - 26 March 2012 - CBR400

Class 2 - 6 June 2013 - Suzuki Hayabusa, GSX-R600

Don't be discouraged! For me, i love to focus on the same spot far in the distance when i do plank. When u get familiar going up the plank while focusing on the same spot, it helps u relax also. I personally always use half clutch, light throttle and foot brake for plank. Gives me some stability without having to balance (m bad at balancing). Kills the brake pad.. but school bike la... haha.

Hi samick thanks very much for your reply. Sounds like SSDC is better than CDC for working folks who can only do weekend/weekday evening practicals.

Bro, no problem. Sharing is caring.

U can go down to ssdc first, check out if it is convenient for you. Go see how the instructor conduct the practical. Before you make the decision.

@samick, when you mention to "cancel prac to check if there is anyone trysell" will you use the 18 cancellation counts?

I'm thinking of starting a WhatsApp chat for all CDC 2B students so we can share with each other when we want to cancel, exchange or anything.. who's in?

Wearing of a full face and jacket is a safety statement., its not a fashion statement.

An eye for an eye makes the world go blind,

it is then two wrongs to not result in a right.

Yes. Many do it this way for the said reason. But for some funny reason or other it didnt work for me! Always ended up performing badly later. Maybe fatigue.... i dunno. What worked for me however was if i did the CR the evening before L5 or L8, hv a good sleep & come fresh the next morning.

So if anyone's like me, this is another way to do CR in preparation for L5 or L8. Just do whatever that works for you.

i used to do the CR before the L5 and L8 so that i could book the bike that i used for practice, for the test too.... lol

i maximised my free cancellations because i was a hardcore camper on cdc website. many times i managed to get lessons the next day or within a few days of my current lesson because people always cancel. i think by the time i got my TP i had no more cancelations left.
