hi all.. i juz changed my brake pads on sunday.. after the change of pads.. my rear disk starts to have to 'wuuuu wuuuu" sound wen i brake using my rear brakes..

the sound dun cum straight away.. wen i brake full force using rear brake.. the bike slows down to bout 10 - 20 km/h.. i slowly let go my brake.. den wen left a bit force on the pedal.. the sound begins..

ani idea wats wrong? or i haf to bed-in my brakes for a while more before the sound will be gone..?

maybe u can try washing ur brake disc with soap to remove the brake pad dust.

or it could be poor bedding. did u juz buy ur bike? perhaps u or previous owner used a pad which eats the disc so now u get screeching sound when u lightly tap ur brakes. this is becoz when u tap lightly, the pads are only in contact w a v small area of the disc; hence the screech. when u brake hard, the whole pad is forced to contact w the disc so u dont hear any screech.

if its bedding problem, then i guess u juz have to wait till the pad fades n beds itself w the disc

hmm.. it looks like mine is the 2nd problem.. the disc looks like it has been worn down quite abit alreadi.. and the inner areas seem thicker than the outer areas..

suspect the previous brake pads are slightly smaller in size compared to the ones now.. so the new pads are brushing against the thicker areas slightly when i lightly tap..

brake pad can change to diff size??

from small to big??

u use yr fingers to measure the disc thickness briefly..

which part is thick??

your brake disc is uneven surface liao. must bed in longer, until the brake pad become uneven (follow disc brake surface) then will OK.

if not u send the brake disc for skimming. make it even back. but disc will be thinner. not a problem for rear disc (front disc not adviceable to do)

Hello everypne... ... i ride a second hand daelim roadwin and i need urgent help...

my rear brake also has this weird sound!

Its stock brake disc and brake pad...

brake fluid is fine still about half cm above lower level......

when i move the bike in neutral like when i push the bike or when free wheeling got the squeking sound.

didnt happen previously...

ask the guy at Choong Kok agency he says change brake disc(cut throat tactics maybe?)...

but im very confident its the brake pad rubbing the disc...

it cant be bedding in cos i assume (its fx plate) should be very season by now...

is there any way i can change the free play for rear brake...

the friction makes it hard for me to even push the bike!

Sorry if the terms im using are wrong but i know you guys are lau jiao should know what im talking about...

Im still very new... Big Thanks!!!

for disc brakes, mostly floating calipers, the pads are always in slight contact with your disc, free play or not won't have any effect on this, but if the friction makes it so hard to push your bike,

try this first, push about 5 meters, do you experience changes over this distance, eg. easy -> hard -> easy -> hard..

If so, skim or change your disc.

If the effort remains the same, still very hard to push, go service your caliper and piston, you don't want t jam rear wheel one day if you apply rear brake.

maybe its time to service ur rear brake pump. the pistons may not be able to return; stuck.

or you might want to check ur wheel bearing too. worn bearings make the wheels hard to turn.

Okay thank you very much gentlemen.

yeah, indeed the problem lies with the brake disc itself. my kr got this prob once, but on the front brake disc. yeahh...this is wad i did to like slowly find out the root of the prob

1. change ur pads ofcs!

2. service ur calipers n pistons (which i did myself)

3. sent master pump for service

but the prob was still der...and i did the last thing left to be done

4. a new brake disc.....(which burnt my wallet!)

but yeah, i think investing in such new thing will surely help u bigtime in future...cos i once flung off my bike wen i cldnt stopped in time when this stoopid driver attempt an illegal Uturn......so guys! IF U CAN SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON BEST PAINTWORKS,FULLSERVICE, OR MODS TO MAKE UR BIKE TO FASTER, I DON'T SEE WHY U CAN'T AFFORD TO FORK OUT A HEFTY SUM FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY FOR YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM......
