getting whole tank system + fish or just the fish? If just fish, an RTG should be slightly less than the cost of the bracelet of Planet Ocean la. hehe. Or maybe you check with Throttle, see whether he got 35% discount for arowanas bo? hehehe

If 35%, its really a great deal. But no la. Earlier in the year, I hold an omega (not the planet ocean) side by side a breitling, I chose the latter in the end.

 

Wah, non date sub went up 19%? Thats good for me. Like that my T-series one the value should increase a few percent also hehehe.

Omega for many models they do give a 20+5% discount.

Some as much as 35% or if you have insider connection, believe it or not -> as much as 70% !!!!!! Same for Tag Heuer. I stopped buying them since many yrs ago.

 

My first "expensive" watch was actually the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch replica, I bot it for $1850 when I was 24yrs old. I bot my girlfren, a Constellation on her 23rd birthday. They worked pretty fine but I never bot an Omega from then onwards.

 

The reason is this. Old antique Omegas are OK but current Omegas got no value in the eyes of collectors. They are very heavily mass marketed and have lost much of its historical iconic appeal. New models just continue flooding the market and they simply come and go.

 

You take a brand new Omega which you buy minutes ago from the shop, unworn with box and guarantee to a dealer and you will at most get 50% of your buying price.

 

Of course every Luxury item is about perception. Rolex is also heavily mass produced and the market is filled with imitations. But yet it commands well. Same goes for Patek.

 

However classics simply will never be wrong.

It's the same for cars, bikes, watches, pens, lighters and all things collectible. Classics never die.

 

(ps. that's just my point of view.)

Now I look at the price and I think it's really crazy. 5 yrs later I'm sure it will be crazier. I think it will hit $10k by 2015, and the Daytona will be $20k++ for sure.

Eh? your reason for not buying Rolex is very ironic, i find.

Becos whether you support it or not, the price will still go up.

In any case, $5k to $20k for a watch is not much leh.

 

Real solid collector watches are mostly out of production or have very limited production with strong auctionable value into the hundreds of thousands. I would dare say we in this thread, are nowhere near that.

 

I reckon you simply switch camps lah.....maybe you'll switch back later?

One thing funny and true. Most of my friends who said I was crazy to buy a Rolex then, have either also bought a Rolex in recent times or are now aiming to buy one. I just dont want to "suan" them...heh heh heh

The design quite a bit like Sea Dweller leh...

 

This nicest thing about Omega I like is the shape of the case for its Speedmasters, unique , strong and manly. But i thought they use it only exclusively for speedmasters until they used it for the Planet Ocean too.
