DUDE ! dun waste your time with a diploma in poly. what did u get for your a'levels? i suggest since u are going overseas to study that you take a foundation course at where-ever you are planning to go. that would take only 1 year sometimes only 6 months and it is almost a sure way into a overseas uni. the bad thing is it costs about 25k for the foundation but at least you save 2++ years.

i only went to poly after my o'levels because my parents told me to give them some time to come up with the money to send me overseas. the 3 years i spent in poly were no doubt fun but the diploma i got had limited bargaining power when i applied to Unis in the UK and aussie. furthermore, the stuff i learnt in poly were taught at such a slow pace that i felt it could have been done in 2 years max !

whatever i just said is subject to the course u are interested in. i did a dip in law and management and honestly speaking that dip is a bloody useless piece of paper. i dunnoe about the other courses, anyone wanna add some comments ?

Well, I'm planning to take a Diploma in Veterinary Technology (A New Course), before heading over to the University of Queensland to get my Degree in the same subject area.

What I got was C,D,E and B4 (GP), can't get into the local Uni here, Overseas is a almost sure way to get it, but 6 months to 1 year foundation, in addition to maybe 2 to 4 years Degree cost, taking up all overseas expenditure (I.e School Fees, lodging, food, transportation, etc) of about 50k yearly (Based in my sister). That's almost a whopping 150k to 250k.

So what's going to happen is that I'm going to get the Dip from TP first, then go to the Uni taking Exemptions in modules which adds up to 2 years and reducing my Degree years to just 1 (Which was my sister's footsteps again).

So I've just gotta work hard, which won't be a problem. Army kinda made me grow up alot, and I'm already thinking, I already fcuked up my 2 years in JC, I think its either I chiong my final few years now, or I'll fcuk up my entire life.

icic. you have it all planned out. well it is not difficult to score in poly. in fact, most of the papers are set based on past year papers. esp since it is a new course (as long as you are not the first batch).

i guess taking exemptions are very very useful but have you done the research to make sure they accept the credits? just make sure with your desired uni before committing. also, to gain entry to uni your GPA (grades) have to be fairly good so work hard !

in my case, i tot it was crap and just wanted to finish it as soon as possible ! lol

no it is only free for students and staff. you need to go to the one stop service centre and ask them for the form. fill it up and just pass it to the security "house" near the bus stop. they will help u register your IU. then it will be free.

omg u owe me lunch ! lol

lol thanks for ur help. will treat u IT sch canteen prata. hahaa. anyway just wan to say. the thing i hate most about sch is not exams, its projects man. so many projects and all on the same or nearby deadlines. sucks sia. haha

oh i so preferred projects to exams. although 90% of my projects (esp individual projects) were done the nigh before submission date, i still did quite well :cheeky: !

exams on the other hand... so many things to memorize. i rather have the information infront of you while u work instead of having to try to cramp everything into your brain.

Yeah, its stated in the TP website itself, the course branches out towards University of Queensland with exemption (I've visited the University physically before, I like the lake! :cheeky: )

As for me, I'm gonna kinda work my ass off. Because your mentality of "I just want to finish this crap soon", I had it too! And that's what happened to my 'A' Levels. HAHAHAHAHA! So I know big time, it could have been so much better. (I still think JC was crap though, I didn't learn ****. Its just studying higher level secondary school work.)

well good then. anyway 1 guy from my dip got into NUS law this year and his gpa was almost perfect. the government always say that more and more poly students can get into unis in singapore but i think they always count the private unis as well which is deceiving. if everyone can get into uni then where will the diploma holders be to work at the lower salaries. lol.

i agree with you that JC is crap too in a sense. you probably only use about 30 percent or less of the things you learn in JC. lol. but it is a easier path towards uni than poly is. i mean if you get AAA A1 for your a'levels, it is gonna get you into a uni more easily than a high GPA in poly is most of the time. sad but true.

Actually, yeah. AAA A1 in 'A' Levels will get a place before an almost perfect GPA. So in Poly, it seems like its damn hard to get into Local Uni because of JC students. But actually, I think most of the time, almost 50% of JC students are kinda dumb. :cheeky:

Only know how to study, not exactly very street smart. There are street smart ones, and 80% end up with just 'A' Level cert or barely one. The last 20% get into the Uni.

I'm not surprised nowadays, why after 'O' Levels, alot are picking Polys now instead of JC. JC still have, but its either don't know what to take in Poly, still don't give a crap on what to do in life or parents cannot malu type, must hao lian to all her rich tai tai friends that their child in JC. :dozed:

i lent my friend my sp while i am on holiday in UK. he park at his multi-storey carpark. today his mother leaving the house saw the bike stripped naked to the frame only at the back of his block. ****ing thieves.

its been 2 months since i lent my friend my sp. just when i coming back soon they do thise kinda things. moral of the story is not to park in HDB. i hate HDB properties now. i swear never to stay in one.
