u can wait until the needle fall below the red mark then go n top up.

there r two methods to make fuel gauge read more accurately.

1) first method is a lot more work: remove the fuel cap, mounting bolts, tank shell then dismantle the fuel float sensor n bent the stem by a few degree.

2) second method is the easiest: lower the front fork clamp by 10mm.

encourage u to try method 2 first.

ok. but tat i have to approach mechanic rite? can i DIY??

any side effects?

u can diy if u r mechanical incline like myself.

otherwise it is better tat u seek cka mech for assistance n learn.

side-effect will be your own preferences, if u don't like it.

u can always return back to original n try the first method.

u need allen key n ring spanner to loosen the fork clamp n handles.

they r very tight, may need some leverage to loosen it.

do not use open-ended spanner, u will damage the bolt head.

this is how i do it:

1) put bike on main stand.

2) loosen allen bolt for each handle.

3) loosen allen bolt on each side for top fork clamp.

4) use ring spanner to loosen 2 bolts for the bottom clamp but don't loosen totally, allow some grip.

5) be careful n think ahead wat will happen, don't just blindly do it.

6) slide out the handle from the fork, u can see a groove on the fork aligned on the top face.

7) loosen the bottom bolt a little bit so tat the fork can slide up.

8) measure the top face of the clamp to the fork groove 10mm apart.

9) tighten the bottom bolts (3.4kgf/m) then the top clamp allen bolts (2.6kgf/m).

10) place back the handles n tighten back allen bolts (2.6kgf/m).

good luck.

for steps 9 and 10, the figures mean the pressure to tighten rite? how do i measure exactly?

i'm a mechanical student but it's a shame i'm not tat mechanically inclined. but i'm willing to learn. just scared tat if i do without proper guidance i will spoil my bike instead. possible for me to drop by ur place when u r free then u guide me along as i do? btw, wad spanner size do i need for the bolts? and wad allen key size as well?

thanks alot!!!

hehe.. its ok.. haha.. i used wrong term den misunderstanding.. hehe paiseh paiseh

todae when i appraoching red light, i was at 5th gear then i braked... then slowly kicked down gear. but huge problem!!! i kicked down once then cannot kick down liao!!! then i panicked!!! kick up n down, stll cannot get 1st gear. suddenly, bike went into neutral. but still cannot kick down. i tried everything!!! lights turn green but i stil there.. obstruct traffic.. finally can kick to first gear then i quickly zoomed off... sibei malu.. haha..

wad maybe the causes for this problem?? i starting to believe the mech my clutch plate is wearing out.. but i already spent so much.. dun feel like spending another amt to inspect the clutch assy. hehe.. but most imptly, is it a sign tat my clutch plate really wearing out?

The solution to this problem is a simple case of engine braking.

You remember what you learnt in Prac 1, your instructor told you to use engine brake to help u stop? This is the issue.

I kenna before, my first road lesson, steady on the CG125, and from 5th gear, kick down to 1st, but can't engage. Moving off in 2nd gear, bike wobble like mad.. haha..

So use engine braking to prevent this. 5th >> 3rd >> 2nd >> 1st gear. take time to stop.

Unless of course i got this wrongly, then you would have to take a look at those cluth plates again. LOL.

I'm looking for Rw. But i can't pay 3k for ins + bike on the spot. (if not i take johnny's or fosters, or raden's bike already). anyone got COI lobang, or seen any RW at any shops recently? pls PM me.

thanks. i really hope the problem lies with my braking technique, but i will monitor my bike for the next few weeks to see if it happens again. hopefully is not the clutch plate otherwise got to dig money out again...

will help to keep a lookout for you...hope to see you join the RW community soon.....

Today did my first pump!!! haha. so excited.. anyway, i pumped to full then the fuel gauge went all the way up, i'm guessin my fuel sensor float is quite accurate so i may opt out for the lower of forks.

anyway, i was at vivo todae. coming out from the carpark via harbourfront walk exit, i could not go up the slope!!! so malu!! :cheeky: issit the bike really no power to drive all the weight up or just tat my clutch control no good? i listed below the additional weight:

1) pillion plus me = 130kg

2) E33 givi box

3) 130/70 tyres (not sure if this affects)

4) RXZ cowling (insignificant though)

5) Full tank fuel (16litres = 16kg??? but then again density of fuel quite light..)

do help me out on the weight thing cos if it's really the lack of bike power, i will need to avoid such slopes in future.. hehe

HI there guys, after reading so much about this bike and many inspirational knowledge by bro stsoh, I have decided to get this as my 1st bike. Any selling their roadwin pls drop me a pm with regards to the details of their bike. Cheers....:)

try adjust the clutch handle to where u like clutch biting point.

lock nut n adjustment screw is under the rudder where the cable going into the handle.

ok.. i will try to locate the nut and screw tml morn when i do my preride check :thumb:

u should use second gear with clutch control going up a slope.

if can't go up with second gear then use first gear.

probably u still r not use to controlling the clutch yet.

rw have no problem going a steep slope.

wads the logic behind this? as in, y do we do clutch control for steep slope? if use second gear means, while stationary on the slope, i engage second gear then move off?

i was monitoring my rw's rpm vs speed at gear 5. most of the time i got 7000rpm with 85km/h. sprocket size is 14/42 and tyre is 130/70. so i guess my clutch plates are ok rite??

by the way, i parked beside a rxz today, then i realised our handle bar cannot turn as much as rxz. then i compared to other bikes, rw's handle bar cannot turn as much as other bikes. is it true???

wat i meant is whilst moving up a steep slope u should be in second gear, sometime need clutch control to move up.

if u stop half way along a slope, u should shift to first gear n with clutch control to move off.

i stopped at the slope n half clutch. but cannot go up. by rite i cant blame it on the bike rite? is it really my skill at half clutch no good? cos at the slope, my legs were off the ground, my throttle opened with half clutch, brakes off liao, but the bike simply cannot go up. it just stuck there. not up, not down. one more point to add is tat sometimes when i moving off at green light, my bike vibrate very little, sometimes vibrate alot. has it anything to do with clutch control?

by the way, i cant find the nut n screw adj.. do u have pics to show me?? thanks! :cheeky:

there is a limiter to limit handle turning, reasons r:

1) to prevent the handle from hitting the tank.

2) to prevent the bike from diving down while turning.

oic!!! but not all bikes have this issit?

anyway, i'm thinking of fixing a yamaha xj400 headlight on my rw. any opinions/comments anyone?
