Hi guys, i ride an FZ16. Story goes i was on the way back home and just outside my HDB estate carpark, i ran over a fist sized rock as i was turning in and dropped my bike.

So i went to my workshop and asked them to realign my front end, but it still felt off after they did it. Then my dad told me to try holding the front wheel and handlebars then forcing it straight. It didnt solve the problem, but what i did by trying to force the handlebars also damaged my steering lock because i did it while my lock was engaged.

I still can unlock and lock my steering lock but instead of the crisp click, click through Lock -> Off -> On and back, now its just like trying to unscrew a rusted nail whenever i turn my ignition without any of the feeling of indents at the "Off" position.

Is this sort of problem fixable at low cost?

sounds like u messed the lock up.

On majority of bikes, replacing the lock require removal of the forks if im not mistaken.

And you would have to use a separate key.

My advise is to live with it and get a fire and theft insurance and get the steering fixed.
