yeah i just came back from bikeasia...

1st time i go expo for exhibition n there were so little people, no huge body-mashing crowds...

then again it made for easy walking around, plus i could take pics of the models without people spoiling the pics, heh heh heh.

got japanese bikes, but all were displayed by non-distributors...eg givi, sepang circuit n racewerks...more of italian bikes.

lucky i paid student price...else not worth it...

a little pictorial story of my recent DIY...cannot compare to the DIY pros out there, but just a little hands-on work.

so...as the story goes, i had recently changed the wiring harness and rectifier...but the new wiring harness needed some black-taping at the ends and the sockets, so i decided to take the fairing apart and do it. but at the same time my new touring windscreen and clear integrated LED rear light arrived...so...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02590.jpg

1st thing was to take out the NSR150SP signal lights to throw away. hehz.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02592.jpg

after which was to take off the fairings...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02612.jpg

only to realise the bike was dirty inside...check out the next 2 pics...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02632.jpg

years of accumulated gunk!

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02636.jpg

and if u didn't believe the previous pic, here's wad may make u...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02618.jpg

so i cleaned up the bike...frame, subframe, swingarm, gunk and all.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02613.jpg

and installed the nice tail light...

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f115/wqlin84/2%20Wheels/DSC02633.jpg

this is how it looks like at night...cldn't catch the blinking integrated signals...my hp cam v slow in night mode.

btw my 954 at the moment also doing top overhaul... compared to the 900 series, the 929/954 is very troublesome to work with. have to really dismantle the swingarm and drop the whole engine down the floor in order to remove the engine head.

wanted to get Clear Alternatives brand, but they didn't have it for cbr900rr...tt brand really damn bright.

so got wadeva was available on ebay. very bright also, approx sgd$150 incl shipping...

the old motoplastic windscreen broke when the mirror was knocked in a bike drop incident...the design of having the mirrors connecting the screen brace, fairing and windscreen makes it so weak. i liked the old dark smoke racing doublebubble alot...but now not much choice for cbr900rr, so i got a touring screen...though ugly, it's more comfy plus it's clear so tt i can test my cobra unit.

whoa... dats real good stuff lei...from the website, the LED brake light states as USD89 bux and another USD30 for shipping (its cheaper than the original honda light which also sells for $157).. well if in future i want a replacement light, i'll need ur help to order for me.. cant get thru the customs here (sure tio 50% tax charge). now budget blown liau cos of the stupid 954 valves.. had to replace all the damn 8 pcs of it... and bro Abd-B$B collected them for me just now n gonna post it to me tomorrow. parts altogether costed me almost $600... summore need to pay for labour charges, gonna be high too cos i asked the intake port to be polished and chromed. sighs :faint:

the cbr9... once any drop or impact on the mirrors.. the screen is definitely gonna break.. mine also broken once... but i bought one from ah chong planet motor for about $50 if i not mistaken, still using until now :)

i believe those branded ones can be ordered at motoworld, but quite ex.. its abt $130 apiece...

i suggest u clean it more regularly, eg every 2000km during oil changes. there wont be so much gunk on it, and its wayyy easier to clean rather than u huge chunk stuck to it. its quite easy to remove the cover, just need a 8T spanner, remove the speedo sensor and then the sprocket cover. wash n fix it back :D

hehe bro... mine not DIY leh.. all just leave it to my mech to do... at most i do some polishing, washing and spectating :D

i dont think normal ppl like us can do a good top overhaul cos need lotsa experience n also lotsa special tools; eg to plug in the valves/seals/shims back onto the engine head, vacuum gauge, compression gauges, n my mech also had to buy a new tool this time specifically for detaching the 954 swingarm. use normal tool also can but will cause some scratch marks on the inside frame..

slowly get the dutch n do a top-end overhaul bah... seriously ur bike gonna feel like 10 years younger... hehe.. satisfaction quite worth the dough.
