whoa... dats real good stuff lei...from the website, the LED brake light states as USD89 bux and another USD30 for shipping (its cheaper than the original honda light which also sells for $157).. well if in future i want a replacement light, i'll need ur help to order for me.. cant get thru the customs here (sure tio 50% tax charge). now budget blown liau cos of the stupid 954 valves.. had to replace all the damn 8 pcs of it... and bro Abd-B$B collected them for me just now n gonna post it to me tomorrow. parts altogether costed me almost $600... summore need to pay for labour charges, gonna be high too cos i asked the intake port to be polished and chromed. sighs :faint:

the cbr9... once any drop or impact on the mirrors.. the screen is definitely gonna break.. mine also broken once... but i bought one from ah chong planet motor for about $50 if i not mistaken, still using until now :)

i believe those branded ones can be ordered at motoworld, but quite ex.. its abt $130 apiece...

wow okies, no worries if u want it i can order liao then pass to u. but i think see if there're any probs with it 1st then order. i'll see how reliable this tail light is 1st, then give some feedback.

what are the benefits of polishing and chroming the intake ports? my bike is abt to go into workshop soon liao, thinking of what to do, try to get as much done in a single engine drop...

i suggest u clean it more regularly, eg every 2000km during oil changes. there wont be so much gunk on it, and its wayyy easier to clean rather than u huge chunk stuck to it. its quite easy to remove the cover, just need a 8T spanner, remove the speedo sensor and then the sprocket cover. wash n fix it back :D

gd idea bro, will try that also, see how the gunk buildup is.

any ideas on how diff chain lubes/wax will result in less gunk accumulation?

i'm currently using the putoline black label non-fling...but in the front sprocket cover there're still gunk...maybe castrol chain wax will improve the situation?

hehe bro... mine not DIY leh.. all just leave it to my mech to do... at most i do some polishing, washing and spectating :D

i dont think normal ppl like us can do a good top overhaul cos need lotsa experience n also lotsa special tools; eg to plug in the valves/seals/shims back onto the engine head, vacuum gauge, compression gauges, n my mech also had to buy a new tool this time specifically for detaching the 954 swingarm. use normal tool also can but will cause some scratch marks on the inside frame..

slowly get the dutch n do a top-end overhaul bah... seriously ur bike gonna feel like 10 years younger... hehe.. satisfaction quite worth the dough.

wah sounds like need a hell lot of $$$ n experience to DIY top-end overhaul...think my bike's 10-yr-younger rejuvenation wil be done at workshop, haha...soon...

Bro GRassCuTTeR,

when you swapped out your cbr9 forks to the 954 set, and your 954's set to the 1000rr set, does this mean that the cbr1000rr's entire front fork/triple tree can plug and play on the cbr9?

or will i need to do some mods to make it fit?

found someone selling entire cbr1000rr front end, very gian now...

thx!

cheers.

hehe sure bro... take ur tail light become lab mouse 1st... :D

hmm porting the intake ports will give the engine better flow of power.. increase of maybe a few hp... imagine the surface of the intake ports are like sandpaper, after porting its smooth like water. surface becomes like a mirror.. allows the gases to flow better.. the fuel/air mixture can flow faster into the combustion chamber resulting in better response and increased power :D

hmm before u push into the workshop, maybe u can ask how much the labour charges are, and how much u gotta topup if u wanna do porting... least we have a comparison to know the difference in sg n msia. good also to get everything done in a single drop so u know that the engine will perform at its best for the next 70k-90k kms.. hehe...

currently i'm using PJ1 blue label.. still my choice after trying quite a few brands in the past.... erm about putoline, tried it before but it was too sticky n lotsa gunk buildup.. but i'm not sure whether its the same type that ur currently using or not... maybe after this u buy a bottle of PJ1 (its abt 7 bux) n wash ur sprockets cleanly... then u try the PJ1... least we can compare the result. castrol i havent try before, but chain wax i believe it can fling more.. especially on those long trips stop halfway n spray wan... hehe

eheh ofcos la... i think if purchase the special tools... gonna cost at least sgd2-3k liau... if more complete range will be $8k up... whereas if buy parts n send to shop do... like doing top overhaul for my cbr9 last year... costs abt sgd1.5k for parts... but was a extensive overdo.. change water pump, fuel pump, used a few 925 silver wires (yeah the headlight became damn bright after that) throttle n clutch cables, all the radiator switches/hoses, valves, valve seals damn dont think i can remember all leh... :faint:

before i did the top overhaul... my dyno reading at unity was 115hp... after overhaul no chance to dyno... but the power was much, much better and responsive after all those new parts and porting done... very satisfying lorh :)

yeah bro... the 1000RR's entire front end... can jitao fix onto a cbr9. only thing which is needed is a 954 top yoke clamp instead of the 1000RR, cos the 1000RR fork angle is steeper than the cbr9, but the 954 is identical with the 900. (the 1000RR top clamp will also fit, but its harder to fit cos its a difference of 1-2 degrees steeper angle) its not problem unless ur fussy nia.. hehe...

btw, u found an entire 1000RR front end ? make sure they come together with the callipers... oh ya n do check out which year model did it come from.. cos 04-05 different from 05-06.

change front end after this i dont think its so easy to put the power on the 1st n 2nd gear... can pop the front up if u suddenly squeeze the throttle too much... but advantages u get is damn alot. ur front will be lighter by abt 4kg.. damping over bumps is a HUGE difference. very plush i'd say.. turning into corners require more body weight input and less weight on the handlebars cos the newer model forks are shorter than the stock cbr9 ones, but once u get used to it, u wont wanna revert back to the conventional fork.. hehe :cheeky:

wow, thanks alot bro GRassCuTTeR !

it's time to start saving up for all the mods liao...my cbr9 got 9 more yrs of COE, intend to let it have the most glorious last 5 yrs with all mods done.

anyway, hardracing.com replied a query of mine regarding sebimoto cf fairings, fuel tank n frame covers...for cbr9 need 6-8 months of fabrication then shipping...eeyer.

so bro, ideally the best for the cbr9 will be to get cbr1000rr wheel, forks, calipers, lower triple clamp, then use cbr954rr top triple clamp and clip-ons?

will the cbr1000rr fork tubes fit through the cbr954rr top triple clamp?

yup...dats the recipe u need :D. clipons u can use either 954 or 1000rr as they are both the same 50mm diameter, (u might wanna use aftermarket clipons such as vortex too). btw the 954 top clamp will also look better, cos with the 1000RR clamp there wont be no HESD so it wont look as nice.

the 1000RR and 954 forks are of same diameter, so will definitely fit thru the top+bottom clamps.

btw, u might need to change ur ohlins damper bracket to a 1000RR or 954 unit too... cos ur current damper bracket is suited for the cbr9 steering cone.

*forgot to tell u cos i'm using side mount ohlins but urs is top mount. :cheeky:

yeah...dats a nice set... i tried bidding for one FCR last year with the help of bro Sev here.. eventually lost the bidding cos it sold off close to USD600.

was quoted a new FCR from unity for $2k++.. hehe

bro, other than the hp gains, what will happen to the FC and street-ridability if i install a FCR?

FC not much increase la.. my riding buddy is using a cbr9 with the exact model... his mods are keihin 39mm FCR, open pod K&N, powerpak CDI.

he can still ride it to work everyday, FC whenever we ride n pump together.. i'll pump RM20, he will pump RM23... or i pump RM15, he pump RM17... just extra a few bucks all the time.. the big difference is the power delivery.. very very potent especially RPM 8k onwards.. even a nicely setup 929 with full system/pc3/K&N also canot touch it.. hehe
