Hi all..

im using YBR 125. When warming up my engine during cold start, the engine will stall by itself.

Gear in neutral; choke pulled; using electric start.

After a few seconds, the engine will die off..whats the problem here?

help

:)

try start up without pulling the choke.

sillypore climate is consider warm even at 26 deg C.

most manufacturers consider 'cold' places where climate fell below 10 deg C.

your bike should be able to start without pulling the choke.

next u might want to set your idling speed a bit higher.

after warm-up if idling speed is 1.2k rpm, set it at 1.4~1.5k rpm.

if u still have stalling problem, u might want to adjust carb's pilot-air screw by 1/4 turn to richer setting.

Alright...

I believe its the idle speed that needs adjustment. Just now as i collect my road tax, the tech adjust the idle speed for me to abt 1.5k rpm. (initially was just slightly above 1k rpm)

what does higher idle speed affect anyway?

TIA

most manufacturer recommends idling speed at 1.5k rpm (+-0.1k).

it does no harm, it will not stall easily if/when move-off with engine not totally warm-up yet. FC (fuel consumption) is negligible.

It wont stall if i rev..say 2k..

BUT its not practical for me to rev the whole time to warm it up ma... I guess warming up takes like 3 - 4mins? yea

Just adjust your idle speed to 1.5k rpm when the bike has warmed up. Do this after a ride, for example. When cold, the idle speed will be 1k rpm. Any lower and the bike dies on its own -- not a problem if you don't mind rev'ing until the engine has warmed up.

It is safe to adjust the idle screw (see the manual where it is) when the engine is on, so it's very easy to get the adjustment perfect.

That is what i did exactly. When engine already warmup, set to 1.5K..

Now, cold start, rpm will initially go to 1k, then slowly drop to 500, then will die off...:help: :help: whats wrong har?

Two choices.

1. Increase idle speed even higher so that it won't die off.

2. How long do you have to rev before the engine won't die off? My YBR is the same thing. Easy to die off during cold start. Just rev it (don't need very high rev, 2-3k will do) for 5 seconds once the engine starts. Won't die off then.

option 1 is probably out. 1.5K is high enough i believe.

I'll try your option 2 method and see if it works..

Do i need to get the mech to adjust the carb?o_O
