Hi, I'm thinking of buying an old bike (a Virago) and the body needs restoration work. The fuel tank needs to be reshaped and smoothed, the front and rear fenders have screw holes that need to be filled and smoothed over, and the rear fender has a minor dent that needs to flattened.

Does anyone know of a shop in Singapore that does this kind of work and how much they would charge for a good spray job after all the patching?

Would anyone also know if it is better to send an exhaust for rechrome or to get a replacement exhaust?

Is rechroming of spoked wheels expensive?

Thanks in advice for any advice.

For bodywork, the best I know is Yeow Motor at AMK, I think the sprayer is Ah Huat if I remember correctly. The guy is very professional and has superb skills. Harley used him whenever an owner wanted paintjob done, so if dealer like Harley use him, you can guess the quality of his work. I had him respray a fender before, cannot tell the difference between his work and original.

For exhaust, can check out the chrome shop in Kallang, is the name Seng Kwang? Cannot remember. But you must know that the original chrome is often triple plated, with the first layer hard chromed, so it lasts very long. These kinda shop I do not know if they can match the quality.

I don't recommend you chrome wheels, because I heard that chroming will affect the structural integrity of the wheels. Some wheels come chromed, but they may use a different process, I'm not sure.

You can talk to the chroming shop boss, he's quite upfront, if not safe he will tell you. Maybe someone else can give the address.
