wanna share a recent bad experience with a workshop. after my bike kiss the tar when a lorry swerve into my lane, a broken regristration plate, side mirrors, footrest and some nasty bruises and wounds as a result. i ask for compensation but Mr Driver had minimum cash with him but promised to pay for the damages.

so i head down to the nearest workshop in AMK Industrial Park2 owned by an Indian boss. since Boss here converse excellent hokkien, he call Mr Driver up and quote the repair cost. Mr Driver being ngiau, demands a detail receipt. i did ask for some compensation for my injuries too. he wants to see a medical receipt!

i left soon after my bike repaired, trusting Boss to receive my compensation and

repair cost. i came the next day to collect my damages fr Boss. He passed me a small amount for my medical (which is insufficient as i went for x-ray) claiming this is the balance left, minus-off the repair cost.

Distress I call up Mr Driver to demand more! He had substantially given more than

quotation. Thus the extra $$$ mysteriously goes into Boss pocket. Mr Driver had given more because receipt had additional cost. Ask Boss for my share but he said that's for the alignment check and also his help for "talking" to Mr Driver!

I will never visit that shop again!

i think in this case u shld have ask the quotation from the mechanic. and talk to the driver yourself for the compensation. then after you get the money, then repair the bike ma. in this case u dont have to let the mech become the middleman already.

if you rely on someone to make a claim on your behalf without knowing what's going on, then you can expect these things to happen. and better still, you have no recourse against your agent who hasn't put your interests first before his.

i would not allow anyone to try to make a claim on my behalf unless i control the terms of any settlement.

He who hesitates is lost!
