Wah!! Like dat very bad leh. At least last time pay $15 for season parking, no need to put also OK. If everytime need to forkout $5. 1 month lose 1 RFID paper. 12 months already $60 = 4 months of season parking leh. This is very very bad.

Got complain to them? Maybe need to do a police report as proof and go see MP.

The RFID Passive tags have practical read distances ranging from about 10 cm (4 in.) (ISO 14443) up to a few meters (Electronic Product Code (EPC) and ISO 18000-6), depending on the chosen radio frequency and antenna design/size. Due to their simplicity in design they are also suitable for manufacture with a printing process for the antennas. The lack of an onboard power supply means that the device can be quite small: commercially available products exist that can be embedded in a sticker, or under the skin in the case of low frequency RFID tags.

For practicality, do you think the warden would walk in front of every screen, place the reader within 10cm of distance to read it?

I personally think it will be more practical to use the high frequency Passive RFID tag which can be detected from 1-3meters. If this assumption is correct, then our tags will be traceable even in our box... :cheeky:

Any expert in this field able to comment on this?

Well in the end, it all boils down on costs. A passive tag is not cheap. Are you willing to pay $50 for the RFID tag? And in the event of lost of tag, admin charge of maybe $30 is imposed. The cost is too high and futhermore the tag must be powered. If tap on ur battery then later complain the tag take too much juice. If on batteries, then complain that every time need to change batteries.

So still boils down to costs.

The Active RFID has to be connected to a power source, hence this is out for our parking RDID tag; As for Passive tag, the technology has moved from 1inch detection to ~3meters detection.

From earlier email, I belief we may be using the latter ones.

The passive tag generally should cost a lot cheaper (base on one of my vendor, it cost around ~10cents - not verified) unlike the active ones.

Hope our parking RFID technology introduced here is worth it (improve in accuracy, cost and ease of use). Else might as well use back the previous method..... :p

Ops Sorry my mistake, I've mistaken for passive as active. Anyway Thanks undead for clearing that up. Its good to have the technology, but Aunty still have to double-check Plate number. I pity aunty, if the reader got prob, confirm aunty panic. Dunno IT mah hehehehe.

No worries... forum is where we share our views and knowledge. :thumb:

If it is going to inconvenience the Aunty, then jialat ....... spend $$ and defeat the purpose.... but since we don't have much details on the type of RFID and many other details... better not comment too much.....:p

it is written on the back of the RFID sticker:

the tag has to be displayed next to the road tax disc, and be physically visible.

dunno if we hide it under seat or in box, will there be any fine??

In that case, they r out to penalized the bikers (especially scooters) as many scooters do not have any place to place this unlike other bikes who has many nuts expose around the bike... :sian:

This is an example of stupid technology. Wasn't the previous system a win-win situation for bikers and carpark aunties? Anyone would like to write a letter asking HDB what's the rationale?

Let's be creative...

Anyone tried using the 3M reflective tapes, stick with the RFID tag to the box or other parts of the bike? o_O

Maybe we can create some kind of fashion statement here....:p

I just got my electronic season parking and ecasue I don't have a disc that goes with it ... (I don't know where to get the damn plastic disc, I'm a new rider!) I clipped it to my bike's cover. Before I left, I took it and temporarily left it on the next bike's seat and zoomed off. Duh right? According to the attendant, no one can use my ticket since it's installed with all my infos. Yet I swear I walked around my parking lot and NO ONE ever display it!

There goes my ticket, it's a biatch to get it replaced not to mention the extra cost. lol. Where do you get the plactic disc display anyways?

A thought came to me.

The RFID is similar to car season parking label. If it could be scanned with a distance of ~0.5m, through their tinted glass, then our RFID should also be able to work in our box.

The reason why they have put many clauses to display this clearly is for the attendant convenience....
