[Discussion] Customised Mounting - GPS, Notebook, Gadgets, etc

Hello folks,

 

had the idea of mounting one of those small sub 1kg notebook

on the fuel tank or somewhere (eg go seng kwang custom make rack)

and pair it with a bluetooth gps.

 

Wondering if notebook hardisk can take such a beating.

 

Anyone tried? or tried put in box and it survive the journey?

why dunt just get a navigator GPS ? u can try this site i saw in the papers .... http://www.vdodayton.com...btw i dunt think ur HDD can take the kind of beating

have liao...I currently using handheld PDA Gps, put in tankbag clear window.

 

 

Just tot of this cos see myself doing trips for the next 2year or so.

Bring notebook got luxury of big screen gps navigation, reach destination,

can connect camera, do video, photo, surf net get some mix work done etc etc

just a thought ...i also worry HDD will crash ...lol

well....u can invest in the new technology the SSD .... solid state disc ...check out hardwarezone .....but dunt forget ...does ur laptop have a anti glare screen ? the heat from the sun will also kill the laptop

Harddisk is least of the problem.

 

Most notebooks screen are not daylight readable.

Thanks for the pointer. Will check out. I found myself carrying too much electronic,

pda, blue tooth gps, camera, must buy enough memory, then got chargers as well,

Ac and dc charger for each equipment ...wa kaoz!

 

If I just bring a small notebook in box, all the luxury and advantage can be tapped,

best...no need bring all the bloody adapter. All poke into notebook USB. save lots

of money on camera memory too.

Thanks, i got the same problem for my pda gps too. infact very hard to ride

and see under sun. Do u remeber we last talk about ur heat gun to fabricate acrylic

holder?...got something funny to....

All Garmin GPS color screen are daylight readable. Even my "ancient" Legend C have no problem viewing under the blasting mid-noon sun.

 

So what are you up to next ?

Just a joke on the hot air gun part....never get to buy one in sg to fabricate gps

holder due to $$ but end up buying one in Hua Hin to dry my boot and clothes

Think Im stuck with PDA gps cos I really need the functionality over garmin.
