Enamel paint on exhaust header.

Hi, can you use enamel paint on your exhaust header? wanna protect it from further corrosion and rusting. thanks.

No. U need to use high temperature black paint. U can buy a anti rust solution from hardware shop to apply to your header . Ler it soak for a while. After that then spray it with high temp paint. It will protect for a while . Not a permanent solution. The rust will come back and u need to do it again.

Can, but it will crack as the pipe heats up and expands, and will peel off eventually.

It will likely melt off and create a mess.

with proper surface preparation like primer before the actual coat,it can last for a couple of months which i think is not bad for a diy job.

yes should last at least a few months. then just respray every now and then.

No damage, but it peels off unevenly, so you will sometimes have patches that have dropped off while the rest stays on.

 

High temp spray is similar, but it fades away more evenly instead of flaking off in big chunks.
