You can expect some rust in the morning on the face of the disc. It'll be gone after one or two brake applications. If it's the insides of the slots and holes, nothing yo be bothered about.

If rust is only on 1 face, your brake is only working on 1 side and needs to be checked.

I had this problem with the brake disc on my car. There is always rust on the disc in the morning and after I park for the whole day. It did not both me as the pads will rub off the rust when we brake.

The disc warp last year and I change a new set of disc & pads (DIY). Then I did a run in the brake disc & pad. Interestingly, it's coming to 10 months now and I've never notice rust on my front disc anymore.

Maybe it is because of the run-in I did on the brakes but am not sure about it. My bike does not give me this problem.
