Then the matt black paintwork melted and become sticky

Last month, the stud holding the visor up when opened broke.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I finally pop by to get a replacement today. Kindly let me share the delightful experience.

Please note not a single blink of eye was seen.

Me: "Do you have a replacement for this(visor)?"

Lady: "We have run out of stock"

Me: "Many replacement recently? I feel its a quality issue with the helmet, mine has multiple defects in less than 12 months"

Lady: "You should be glad, helmet these kind of things only last for 1-2 years the most"

Me: "The paintwork?"

Lady: "(took a look) Ohhhh.....this is probably your rough handling"

Me: "(Open my eyes) Rough handling cause melting paintwork?"

Lady: "Oh, caused by sun"

Me: "(Open my eyes bigger) Cannot take direct sunlight?"

Lady: "Oh, you keep your helmet inside box right?????? Under the sun, box temperature very high 1"

Me: "So you mean I must not keep my helmet in my box, i should bring my helmet whereever i go?"

Lady: "Yeah"

Man in background: "Temperature inside box really higher 1"

Man in background: "I think we have 1 last piece. $28 hor(proceed to replace the visor)"

Me: "Change loh"

My conclusion from the above conversation,

  • Their helmet last 1 year very good liao
  • One should only ride at night to avoid sunlight
  • Helmet must not kept inside box 1
  • And I shall not buy a Trax helmet again

hahaha, nice review here... But I do notice many "normal" brands have this issue... Previously was using some Evo II/III/GDR helmet and similar things happened, rust here and there, vent peeling off/not working... And mind u they are not "cheap" also..

But after moving on to better quality helmet like caberg, zeus or Nolan, u don see this much even after 1-2 years of use regardless of whether I put the helmet in my box during the day or not, haha

Trax seems like a quality brand to me. So S$98 would get me an average helmet.

I now feel its as mediocre as a S$40 helmet. I paid more for the excellent aftersales service bah.

Its true, leaving your helmet in your box for long periods of time can cause the visor to crack and the paint work to spoil. Can leave inside the box when you go out but take it out when you reach home (I.e don't leave over night/thru the day).

This ensures that it is allowed to air to prevent moisture build up (thus rust)

I have a Trax open face I bought 3 years ago for my riding lessons at ssdc and its still doing well. (also matte grey) In fact I just bought a new full face trax helmet.. Hope nothing bad happens. Perhaps you happen to get a lemon.

However, considering its a cheap helmet, I don't expect a lot from it. Compared to my AGV, Trax is much MUCH noiser and gives me hot spots after 45 min of riding, thus I only use it for my short commutes. I guess we get what we pay for. If these problems had happened to a $200 helmet id be pissed but I can't expect much out of a $90 helmet.

It looks matte grey? Its actually matte black.

The longest period my ride stays stationary is in my home and office carpark, both which is sheltered.

Like I mentioned, I'm only expecting an average helmet for the price I paid. I dont compare it to my X11 or Rx7RR4.

I'm inclined to rate it as mediocre based on experience.

Now what is an average helmet to get nowadays? Nothing from the shops that sell Trax please.

Unfortunately I cant attest to the positive testaments of other owners of the TRAX branded helmet.

Quality wise I really can't tell a diff between them and the $20-$40 helmets.

Why am I even paying close to $100 for this low quality helmet?

The rubber lining.

The cushion.

The sun visor.

Ran into issues of sorts just months into the ownership.

Wanted to get cushion replacements for the helmet, finally gave up after a YEAR (yes you read that right; a f* YEAR) of enquiry, I finally understood that they are not bringing in the replacements even though they said otherwise.

Vowed never ever to buy a Trax again and stick to the reliable helmets (although pricier, you get what you paid for).

Of course, it could be a case of lemon for me, but reading the comments here, I do think otherwise.

I will not buy any trax product again too. Looks good only.

I bought the $100 glitter helmet. Size M.. it ran small.

Then got no cutting for the ear. Bloody pain. Dont ask me what I did to make it better.

Then now start to have cracks and the glitter starts to peel off.

Helmet less than 8 months
