dear kumar,

how much was the change of bearings done by unique?

i tink my rear bearings are kaput.. keep squealing while on the move..

and when on main stand, i can feel that the rims are a bit loose.

just wondering if oil seal can use back the old ones

or is it mandatory to change new ones??

or better, if we can use aftermarket oil seals ??

cuz it`s new year time and i need to travel about 2000 km for next week,

thus i tink i`ll be unable to get any OEM oil seals from msia in time..

FYI, i`ve been using KNN oil filters instead of OEM oil filters during EO changes..

no probs, hope the same is for the oil seals for the bearings too..

Dearest aurium,

I not sure about the price of the bearing alone.. Cos I did a couple of things.. Should be $20 ++ for 1 pair. I would not use back the same seals as mine looked worn out and that is the reason why water was able to enter the bearings and wear them out as well..

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

hi guys, need your expert opinion for a bit.

I recently changed to K&N air filter, and engine ice, and also changed to NGK sparkies.

After that, I started to have a problem with my bike. The engine keeps dying after a clutch in, even after warmup. I would get on my bike, pull the first 50m, clutch in, and *poof!*. Then I'd just have to re-ignite while free-wheeling and carry on.

Initially I thought it's because of the coolant (bike not warmed up properly), but then it happened even after I have travelled long distance. Just before I stop, I would clutch in, and *poof!*. I'm beginning to think it's the air filter. I did not do any re-tuning after changing it.

I thought I'd rather ask you guys first, before going to my mototiam and get 'chopped'.

Hope someone would be able to help. Cheers!

Hi bro, im not an expert in this field but im sure b4 u change to after market products, ur bike was running fine..

Option 1 : Check e spark plug to check for e proper burning...

Option 2 : Change back to stock n c whether u still facing e same prob..

My idling after warm up is bout 800rpm.. Its been doing fine since day 1 i bought e bike since 16/09/2011 till now n it has clocked about 11500km.. Im using Semi-syn 10-40W eo eversince after e 'breaking-in'.. Everything on my bike is stock n im happy with it :)) ..

Btw, e bike came in with e original idling of 800rpm as such if after sumtime u realise dat ur bike keep on 'dying', there's something wrong with e bike n definately not e idle problem coz if it was, dat problem will b there since day 1 u acquire e bike.. Have a good mech to check ur bike bro..

Yes tat right, have to drill hole and insert the pins, to prevent the box from flying on high speed or run over stone or material on d road. I came to know tis from Unique mechanic.

Bro may i know how, by fixing that pin, can prevent the box from being run over by stone or material on the road ?

Hi Advrider, Tks very much 4 d photo and info. Will go there n get it done. Thought of inserting 3" after drilling it. But I tink it's look awful.

Hi bro, dunno whether u have fix e pin coz im using e retensioner bracket for e box.. Bought it from ebay.. No need drilling at all n fixing it takes less than a minute.. Had used it for my ride up to Pattaya in Oct last yr n as observed from by fellow rider, he barely see any vigorous vibration on e boxes at cruising speed of 160-180km/hr on NSH.. btw e 'bracket retensioner' will not interfere in e safety features of e boxes disengaging upon impact..

hello guys,

i just wanna share my mistake w u guys..

few days ago i was still looking for bearing replacements..

however due to unavailiable oil seals and bearings, i just left the set up alone hopeing it would be fine...

thinking i could last till the new year is over, i just went ahead into msia..

ended up the bearings gave way at mersing..

so, if ur bearings are calling u, dont wait..

just towed the bike back to sg, hope the rims are still ok to use..

if not, it will be a big headache for me.

Hi all,

I will like to ask if my 'slight discomfort' concerning the gears/engine of the Concours 14 is common. I have tried googling for answers but it seems that none have reported similar problem.

Here goes, when I am in 1st gear and start accelerating from stationary, there will be a metal sound generated sort like 2 pieces of metal rubbing each other. It will last about 2-3 seconds before it disappear and all becomes normal. No problem in other gears. Is this metal sound normal? Btw, I bought my 2011 Concours 14 new about 3 months old already mileage at 4k+ now.

Please advise. The metal sound is getting to me now. Btw, I've been lurking around in this 1400s thread for quite awhile now and finally decided to post. Paiseh... Thanks in advance.

thanks for the tip bro. i adjusted my timing to just below 1000rpm, and so far no more problems. ride has been as smooth as before. i think it IS the idling, since i did not increase the rpm by that much. but will be bringing to a mech soon anyway just to confirm that my sparkies are doing fine. just cannot find the time....

It is like a 'S' hook.. One end will hook on the pillion handrail the other end will be to the handle of the side box. U can google it up. Or eBay around it.

@ Outlaw - Congrats bro on ur new ride :) .. Have e previous owner did e valve clearance ? If not, perhaps u might want to consider doing it.. (e user manual recommend valve clearance to b done at 42K)...If u can get e servicing history of e bike from e previous owner, that would be very useful.. Or else, spent a bit more to do have ur mech check e bike n change e necessary item/s... Rectifier, coils, clutch plates, valve clearance + timing chain, these are essential items to check when u get a pre owned bike n if u intend to keep e bike for long :) ... For tires, perhaps u might want to consider BT023, there's gd review bout e tires.. For me im still using stock BT021, had clocked 11500km n there's still lots of thread left.. Might wanna try e BT 023 when e time comes :) ..

For e rear brake thingy, have u check e disc ? Any sign of warping ?... Wat brake pad is ur bike using ?.

Btw above r juz my personal views/opinion bro.. For me i wud rather spend abit more to get a good mech to check e bike n change wateva is necessary/recommended n maintain it from there on, rather than down the road 1 after another probs start to arise.. :)

" e box can NEVER come off while riding" - thats very good bro, but if it cannot come off upon impact, then that is UNSAFE :)..
