has anyone figured out how many clicks on the rear shock for a particular rider/pillion weight? and also the rebound n compression setting for the forks?

the manual only states that the factory settings is for a 60kg rider?!?!!?

w/o gear, helmet, boots, how many riders under 57kg rides a 300++kg bike?

Lol I had the problem with over weight rider and pillion. I solved the problem by changing to the Ohlins...

Remote reservoir, and remote preload adjuster. There is a cheaper model without remote preload adjustment, but that would be impractical.

Actually with the Ohlins there's no even need to weigh in. It's plug and play don't even need to adjust anything, only needs to crank up the preload 1 click when in full touring mode.

That's the old model. The remote adjuster built in the shock itself like the super bikes.

tt was the R1 we talked abt going around the world rite?

cool...

yup! thats the one.

but hes still touring now on the new r1 with the cross plane engine.

thats the KA709

does it come with low/high speed variable adjustment setting?

then what about ohlins fork springs?

change rear might as well change the front also.

the installer didnt do the adjustment according to weight?

the main purpose of a preload is cater to range of rider/pillon load as the bike handles differently due to variances in the weight if not theres no purpose of adjustment.

but it seems to be a different model from what u guys mentioned above though it looks the same with the remote adjuster.

btw, to those ppl who mentioned who felt that their bike was sluggish or a lag between gear changes and thought it was just a characteristic of the shaft drive, well, there might be a fix.

check your oil level. it might appear above low but below high but chances are, its prob not filled up to requirement.

When the sump is completely dry,

the oil required is 4.7L

Oil & filter change - 4.4L

Oil alone - 4.2L

Ive done oil changes 5 times and all 4 different mechs got it slightly wrong.

Yes, oil was above the min. markings in the sight glass, but the 200ml-400ml makes for a significant difference in the ride and throttle response.

This model does not come with high/low speed adjustment.

Didn't change the front though cos I felt the front stiff enough for both rider and pillion.

Nope this was done by myself as my pillion was not with me then. Also I stick to stock until the sag of spring becomes softer to adjust.

the main purpose of a preload is cater to range of rider/pillon load as the bike handles differently due to variances in the weight if not theres no purpose of adjustment.

Precisely what I mean. When normal riding I stick to stock, but when touring I'll up the preload due to extra load difference for riding gears, luggage, spares and tools....

Did you go down to sporting or hkl to check. Best if you go sporting cos they know what you want. They actually supply to the Malaysian GTRs.

Thanks for the info. So far the mechanic after putting oil he will start the bike and let it run for a while then turn off the bike and check the oil level then hewill top up accordingly. Most of the time it just touches the topline of the sighting glass. So far so good no sluggish feeling.

if any1 is keen on the shocks maybe I can go speak to the guy n get a further discount.

for the oil, I guess its best to measure the amount that is put in, then rely on the level in the sight glass.

rarely is the amt of oil drained and measured. u wont know the quantity and also if any amount has been used up. so the next best thing is to measure the exact amt that goes in. i under filled by 100ml or so but the line is still not far below the top marker.

not very reliable, dont you think?
