It shares many parts with W650 and W800 share many parts with W650

Spare parts are not a problem as long as Kawasaki is still making and selling W800 :thirsty:

That's one main reason why a W400 is still desirable I reckon. The design & build quality of the bike is impeccable. And being a carburettor engine also has its appeal to many old school riders although for me I know nuts how to tune one. Hahaha!!

Bro @Phang... so what bikes are u have now? Griso and V7? How about the Zephyr?

It is a very reliable bike, to an extend you will think that it is boring, no surprises at all.

I have a Griso SE, an old V7 Sport and the Zephyr.

I renewed the COE of the zephyr last year, so it is going to collect dust for another 10 years till 2023 :thirsty:

The yellow zephyr sold by marco a long while ago is now rotting away at my regular workshop. Still wondering should I rescue it and restore it to its former glory.

Zephyr is full of characters, if you like air cooled inline four UJM with an attitude, this is the bike.

My preference in bikes has changed over years. I like air cooled twins now so zephyr gets cold shoulder from me :thirsty:

Then u should divorce the Zephyr..... and pass it off to me. LOL.

For me although I'm not hands on like you, I love all forms of bikes in one way or another. Had owned and ridden various types of bikes and for me the current craze is to find good modern classics that's within my budget. Hopefully I'll have enough stamina to keep them long term.

The W400 and definitely the W650 will be (in fact they already are) collectibles. I am trying to restore my 98 R1100R and waiting for a pair of spokey rims since mine is the 75th anniversary model which should be on spokes instead of alloys.

Another bike I'm eyeing is the Triumph Thunderbird 900. I think the TT is as rare as the W400 with perhaps less than 10 still running in Sillypore.

I think I know the ex-owner of your R1100R who traded the spoked wheels for a set of alloy wheels

The spoked wheels are much sought after, good luck to you.

TT900 has good power, our friend throttle used to own one many years ago, makes very nice throbbing triple sound unlike modern Triumph triples that sound like an angry hornet :thisty:

I guess I'll never understand the reason why he traded the rims.

Ya I know Duncan had a TT before. Read a little on the bike and seems the bike is rated bullet proof as long as the sprag clutch is fine.

The term 'Reasonable' is rather subjective. To the seller it's definitely 'reasonable' but the deal will only be good if someone is willing to pay this price.

Bikes such as the W400 is hard to come by and hence it might be justifiable for a higher price. Honestly the W series ain't exactly a performance bike and kawasaki parts ain't the cheapest around as well. It's the styling and nostalgic feel that appeals to the owners. And since the W400 is in the class 2A category, the only closest competitor is the Yamaha SR400 which retails brand new lesser than the asking price of this particular W400 which I recall COE expires in a few years... BUT.... The main reason for a W400 or a W650 to maintain its slightly more premium price tag is because these are stop-production models and what left are those in the resale market, hence more niche.

I miss my W400 alot but I'm glad it's in good hands now.
