Passed by Lim Ah Boy a few days ago and found out the his prices for tyres are very tempting.

Any bro can advise or share info about changing tyres at LAB? :slurp:

Metzeler ME22 for front: quoted $30+ to $40+ (including installation), elsewhere normally around $70-80+

Metzeler LaserTec for rear: quoted $70+ to $80+ (including installation), elsewhere normally around +/- $120

Think it's those "clear stock" tires. Should be one year old plus tires. Got them last time before from some unscrupulous shops in ubi

Hmm.. Maybe u can try asking. But for me, I dont even bother going to them for tires although I'd still go there for other items.

I will want to physically check for the manufacturing date on the tires first before handing over the money. This practice goes the same to any other shops as well coz I am very careful with tires, it's the only contact point between myself and the road asphalt.

Doesn't look like LAB keeps all the tires in the Kelantan shop...so the only way to view is at his appointed workshop?

Where exactly is the workshop where the tyres are kept?

His tires are ok. Just be prepared for the long wait

I read that tires are good to be sold for 5 years from manufactured date.

Im comfortable with 2 years.

Ah boy workshop is an eye opener.

Ah Boy's workshop is a cowboy town if memory serves me right. Its worth a visit but after the first time, you will probably think twice about pulling the same stunt again.

Yup, based on what I read, many in the states say that shelf life is about 5 years.

I've just checked....for my current Metzeler ME22 installed at HKL Bukit Merah, the date between the manufacture date and the date of my installation is 1 year 4 months....Hmmm....

Buy accessorise still ok. But buy and install something like tires or critical parts..suggest u look elsewhere. Guess from the responses here...no improvement.. now and past.
