For me i using flip up too but do take note that most flip ups are heavier due to the flip up mechanism. But to me flip up is more practical as during traffic light stops or hot days,i just ride with the flip up.

How is a neotec ugly? Subjective points aside, I can air my head while waiting at junctions, talking to people, buying my drink and drinking it fast, ride with open position when you need to check directions, all these without the need to remove the helmet.

I go for practicality, especially with Singapore's weather.

Its ugly with the front chinguard part flipped up...looks dumb...lol

Anyway looks all subjective...i personally find it damn ugly =D...anyway i dont talk to ppl since I cant hear them (plugged into music hehe), I dont need to drink when riding, and when its really hot day, I just wear the motocross helmet heheh

Which is why there's so many helmet types to choose from ma :D

Have each type, wear what you need for the day, problem solved.

Ya i have an open face too and i dont deny that in Singapore roads, open face still the way due to the very hot weather we have here.

Having used full face for awhile now. I can't go back to open face. Lol. Makes me feel very exposed..

As for the heat, I just flip my visor open during idling time at the lights.

Just me personally though.. Won't go back to open face anymore..

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Or just ride fast enough and try and avoid idling at traffic lights....hehehhe

Having said that, i wear a balaclava under my helmets, strange as it sounds, it actually feels cooler....maybe cos it absorbs the sweat

Smokers love flip up helmets, and most full face riders will swear by full face helmets. Some will tell you that flip up helmets are not good because of the mechanism..and how it wouldn't hold up in a crash, etc.

Ultimately it's up to you. Every crash is different and we should hope to never test our helmets. Good gear is always recommended. No point buying a 2k helmet and then you go riding in shorts and slippers.

But a helmet that suits your needs. What do you prioritize more? Looks? Comfort? Safety (subjective..)?

Heat will always be an issue, but we made the choice to ride. Like what Han said, you can have more than one kind. Open face to go to the market and flipup/full face if you go further. If you go further, you're probably on the highway a lot more. Wouldn't be as hot I suppose.

Smokers will definitely not want a Full face. And i think it also depends on the bike you riding, i ever see rider with motorcross helmet on a RXK. Looks weird.

No la,think the reason most smokers prefer flip up or open face is because they can smoke while riding.Correct me if i am wrong.

not really 'while' riding la..hmm. The wind gets in your eyes, unless you have the sun visor down. More like quick stop for a drink/smoke kinda thing.

Personally one of the things I like about my flip up is..easier to reverse-park. ;) but to each his or her own..

I used to believe that. I used to not prioritize getting good gear when I was riding 2b because it would look 'weird' and make me look overenthusiastic.

Then I got into an accident.

Moral of the story is, 150cc or 1000cc,a 90km/h fall is a 90km/h fall.

Helmet, long pants, shoes, gloves are basic stuff. Get a good jacket too!

Good advise, I always said, the road is harder than you think.

Shark Evoline 3 from motoworld. Modular. The chin can rotate all the way to the back of the helmet, not just stuck in the "up" position like a flip up, making it an open face. Weight shifts back in that position so can feel a little unusual. In the locked down position, think it's dot and ece rated too. In-built sunshade and visor can be used with the Chinbar rotated behind.

Good advice.

I wear a full face helmet when I'm riding a spark 135 during my 2B days. Believes my head is more important than the weird looks and the negative comments received.

Personally saw how my friend scrapped his chin during the e-brake course during our 2B training. Bought myself a full face helmet immediately as my very first gift for passing the 2B test and has been wearing 1 till now.
