To understand how clutch work :

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/clutch.htm

In a competative riding, the gear change become very frequent, in order to reduce the time in changing gear (Clutch-in > kick > release clutch), the race bike usually equipped with clutchless change.

It works by cut-off the ignition for a split of second during the gear-kicking. This will reduce the time to do gear change. This technic will see more advantage by reversing the gear change direction.

So basically, the rider just need to kick in the gear when rev to redline, after out from a corner.

The only advantage over this is saving the time especially riding on track, nothing obvious in the street riding.
