my main idea is juz telling that any oil will do.. is up to individual wat oil u prefer.. for mi, i use cheap gear oil for its high visocity..

hi guys, its great that you guys are taking great efforts on your chain just wanna share my opinion, im the rims and chain man from team shinez, i have seen all sorts of chains ahahaha

1.) applying 2t on your chain errm.. better not once the 2t dries up it will harden and when u just apply it would be rather wet thus trapping dirt and grime while on the move

2.) diesel, yes can remove dirt very very very easily but do be careful as diesel consist of a few added chemicals thus on a long run can damage your chain

3.) scott oiler is great however you have to be very discipline to clean the rims and chain as scott oiler will lubricate your chain but it doesnt release the dirt that is trapped, so trapped dirt = blocked scott oiler some customers don even realise until i informe them ahahah

on a high note enjoy ur mass chain cleaning plan aite:D just sharing my "chains" of experience hehehehe

DID website recommends that you use kerosene to clean your chains. The solvent is gentler on the chain rings.

Even though I'm using Scottoiler, I make a conscientious effort to clean my chains using kerosene monthly. On average, it takes about 10,000 km before I need my chains adjusted.

hmm here's how you could perform a simple experiment on your own which i have done so by myself place about a table spoon of 2t and let it stay under the sun and after 2 weeks or so take a look it will slightly harden and it will sure trap some sand dust, try avoid using 2t as much as possible :p

if use 4t, wouldn't the result be the same??

since both oso oil base, except the visocity is diff??

maybe when i free, then i will but i dun hav 2t oil since i no longer ride 2-stroke bike..

Dude,

If you're using O-Ring, X-Ring or whatever ringed chains, better not use WD40. It degrades the rings over time & your chain will become stiff.

Keresone is still the manufacturers recommended choice.

Spent a good 1 1/2 hrs to clean my chain and sprockets just now. Damn the kerosene from clear become super black, like engine oil. But the after effect when you see the clean chain and sprocket is damn shiok! :p

Im using this. Bought about 3+ from giant/ntuc. Put some on floor, use toothbrush, brush sides, mid, etc. Use old rag and wipe away. Works really well =) Got lemon smell also. Can use it to wipe your rims too!
