Seeking Advice

Hi guys, i'm a new class2 rider and i just sent my cbrxx for servicing.

However, while taking a look at my the bike, the mechanic advised me to change

some parts as the bike engine is rather noisy and not very smooth.

 

Here is the list:

Chain tensioner - $85(approx.)

timing chain - $90(approx.)

carb O- ring - ?

gasket - ?

tuning - $70

servicing - ?

 

Total is about $400 plus.

 

He has also quoted me $280 to change my Chain & Sprocket.

 

I hope you guys can give me some feedback on the market prices for these parts.

I'm i paying too much? Is it necessary to change them?

how old is your bike? I presume abt 6 years....where did u get ur Blackbird?

i think u need second advise to have a peace of heart...if u really trust the mech then I think jus go ahead....My 40K servicing for my bike also mor than ur stated Amount.

Hi Guys, thanks for the advice.

Afraid my bike is more than 10 years old.

So a good servicing and fixing up the engine does seems necessary.

Bought it direct from another rider.

 

Only afraid of being cheated. don't mind paying if its genuine repairs.

Anyway, any recommendations of good bike shops in the east?

I'm staying at punggol.

why not list the periodic things to change and suspected items...cal the price then decide...if can do all together or not prioritise if budget constraints...
